THE SONS FAMILY

I do not even know where to start with this but from what I can tell there are two Sons families in the United States. The first family is of French/Spanish descent and based our of Louisiana. Then there is my family which I have an entire book outlining the spread of throughout the U.S. My family is based mostly out of Chicago Heights, IL and Dyer, IN. They were German Catholics who traveled to Chicago Heights in 1854. It is very difficult to trace the descendants now because the the original immigrants had 17 children. Here they are. If you feel like you may be related to this people please tell me and I will find out more if you would like.

Henry Sons (1827 - 1906) and Louise Havet (1846 - 1919) came to America in 1854 from Germany. Together they had 17 children, 13 survived to have families themselves. They are:
Joseph (1863 - 1909)
William (1864 - 1930)
Mathias (1886 - 1943)
John (1868 - 1868)
John Sebastion (1869 - 1928)
Mary (Sons) Carroll (1873 - ?)
Boy (1872 died before we was given a name at his baptism)
Michael Frederick Sons (1875 - 1925)
Ida Karolina (Sons) Austgen (1876 - 1953)
Henry Thomas Sons (1877 - 1951)
Magdalena (Sons) Norton (1880 - 1953)
Helen (1880 - ?)
Wilhelmenia "Annie Hannah" (Sons) Heiman (1881 - 1972)
Peter Abraham (1885 - 1952)
Abraham George (1888 - 1888)
George Abraham (1889 - 1921)
Amelia Barabra "Emma" (Sons) Harris (1890 - ?)

My name is Amanda Sons. My father and his sister Becky grew up in Medora, IN. The parents were Bessie and William Sons. From the stories I have heard there was quite a rift in the family at some point and my father and his family lost touch with many aunts and uncles. If this sounds at all familiar to you please post any info! Thanks so much....

John Emanual Sons, Central KY, early 1800's

Hi everyone, I'm back after about a year away from genealogy. I am still road-blocked with my 3rd great grandfather, John Emanual Sons. Three different documents indicate he was from Spain, born abt. 1772. (Don't know if he was actually born in Spain). The first document I have found regarding him is in the Kentucky Gazette in 1809. Emanual SUNN (27 years old) a Spaniard, listed as a deserter from the Lexington, Ky. barracks. The next doc. is in 1825 when he marries Nancy Barnes in Estill Co., Ky. (dau. of Zachariah & Hannah Hatton Barnes). John Emanual Sons would have been about 53 years old at the time of this marriage!!!! So many unanswered questions!!!! Where was he and what was he doing between 1809 and 1825..... I suspect he may have had another family prior to his marriage to Nancy Barnes. Of course this is just speculation. There is a John Surs listed on the 1810 Nicholas County, Ky. Census with a family. John Surs is listed as begining between the ages of 26-45. John Emanual Sons would have been about 29 years old at the time of the 1810 census. It is very possible that Sons/Suns was transcribed as Surs..... I know I reaching.... Any thoughts or info. on this dilemia!!!!

James Elias Sons f/o Newt Sons

I am looking for any information on the Sons Family. The story goes that my (3)great grandfather came to the US from Germany in the late 1700's or early 1800's with 21 children. I do know that one of the boys was James Elias (1824), he had 13 children. My great-grandfather was born in 1852, his name was Newt. He had 19 children. I know that he had at least 3 daughters, one of which married Greene. The boys that I know of are Frank, Alfred, Seth (who had 19 children) and my grandfather , Wesley Earl who had 9 children. They are Carroll, Wesley, Franklin, James, Russell, Oakley Ray, Ethel, Edna and Martha. From 1824, they were all born in Wayne County, Illinois. Most were in Fairfield and Sims (towns) but mostly on the farms. I would really like to fill out this tree. I'm assuming that most will be in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri. Kentucky. But who knows?
