I am searching through all of my files and cannot (at this point) find a connection. The timing is right on and the same county. There almost has to be a connection. Will continue to look. A bit rusty have not done much research in the last year.
I will continue to look this evening.

Dear Joseph,

This is the information I have on George Sons.

George Abraham Sons married Lillian Truetner (?-1938). They had two children; Mildred (1918-1985?) and Otto (1920-?) The book I have on the Sons Family was made around 1990 and at this time Otto was still alive, I do not know if he alive or dead now.

Mildred married Erwin Meyer and resided in Crown Point, Indiana. They had three children; George, Donald, and Rochelle.

Otto married Arlain Rehborg and they lived in Crete, Illinois. They had three children; Larry, Caroll, and William.

That is about all the information I have. I hope it helps.

Andrew Sons

I'm not sure if this is the same SONS family, but Wiliam Harvey Sons, was the son of Charles Sons who also came from Germany in the 1850's. William Harvey married Ellen Keating and they had 10 children including Charles, Harvey, Harry, Everett, and Archie. They lived in Vigo County, IN and my grandfather, Harry Sons, moved to Philadelphia, where he had my father, Harry Everett Sons. As far as I know, we are the only SONS in the Northeast..

Thanks for this info! Tell me if I am right here. I have a family book written in the 1980's by a distant relative that has Mathias, Peter, Henry, Earl, and Tavia Sons in it. The book has Henry Sons' Final Certificate of Naturalization in Cook County, State of Illinois March 1873. It says he was from Prussia. The book then maps out the spread of Henry's descendants from Chicago Heights (where my family still lives) to various parts of the country but none in Louisiana.

Hi Andrew,
After looking at your family, it does not appear we connect. My 3rd great grandfather came to American in the early 1800's, and was supposedly born abt. 1772-1780, and documents indicate he was from Spain. BUT...I think this Sons line is Dutch/German. I have always been told he was Dutch Irish. I know were the Irish comes in, but have found not Dutch leads yet, other than guesses. If one looks at the maps of the time...the Netherlands, Amsterdam, Holland are all above Spain. I just have a feeling that my Sons line is realy from this area, but have found nothing to prove this, yet. I do have three documents indicating John Emanual/Amanuel Sons was from Spain.

If you know any more I would love to hear from you and others

Hi, I think I have some information for you if this is the correct Mathias Sons. Mathias (October 19, 1866 - October 19, 1943) was the third child of Henry Sons(1827-1906) and Louise Havet(1846-1919). He married Elizabeth Ball(1883-1970). They had 13 children.

If this sounds right to you let me know and I can tell you more about all of their children.

Dear Lisa,
It seems like you know a lot about the Sons family. Take a look at my post entitled The Sons Family and let me know if you think we are related. I would love to talk to you and see our family trees match up somewhere. Also, if we do happen to be from the same Sons family I really don't think we have a coat of arms. I know my descendants were German farmers and just didn't really care about that kind of thing.

Dear Amanda,
I am almost positive we are related. Please read my thread entitled THE SONS FAMILY. I have an entire book outlining out family lineage and there were many men named William. What makes me know we are related is your comment on a fight between our descendants. There were so many cousins and from what I have heard they were all very hot tempered, none of them got a long, and pretty much everyone lost touch because they hated each other so much. If you have any more information on William and Bessie I am positive I could fish some details out of this book for you.

THE SONS FAMILY

I do not even know where to start with this but from what I can tell there are two Sons families in the United States. The first family is of French/Spanish descent and based our of Louisiana. Then there is my family which I have an entire book outlining the spread of throughout the U.S. My family is based mostly out of Chicago Heights, IL and Dyer, IN. They were German Catholics who traveled to Chicago Heights in 1854. It is very difficult to trace the descendants now because the the original immigrants had 17 children. Here they are. If you feel like you may be related to this people please tell me and I will find out more if you would like.

Henry Sons (1827 - 1906) and Louise Havet (1846 - 1919) came to America in 1854 from Germany. Together they had 17 children, 13 survived to have families themselves. They are:
Joseph (1863 - 1909)
William (1864 - 1930)
Mathias (1886 - 1943)
John (1868 - 1868)
John Sebastion (1869 - 1928)
Mary (Sons) Carroll (1873 - ?)
Boy (1872 died before we was given a name at his baptism)
Michael Frederick Sons (1875 - 1925)
Ida Karolina (Sons) Austgen (1876 - 1953)
Henry Thomas Sons (1877 - 1951)
Magdalena (Sons) Norton (1880 - 1953)
Helen (1880 - ?)
Wilhelmenia "Annie Hannah" (Sons) Heiman (1881 - 1972)
Peter Abraham (1885 - 1952)
Abraham George (1888 - 1888)
George Abraham (1889 - 1921)
Amelia Barabra "Emma" (Sons) Harris (1890 - ?)

Re: THE SONS FAMILY

I am related to Mathias Sons. It is my mother's Grandfather. I am trying to find out more about the Son's family and understand they might also spell the name Sohns but do not know for sure. We are part of the Roman Catholic Family from Germany. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Re: Sons Family in Minnesota

Hi Taya,
Mrs. Fred Schaefer of Glenburn, N.D. (in 1927) was the sister of my great-grandmother Mrs. Catherine Sons, nee Lux, born in Duppach, Germany on August 1, 1880. The Lux family came to this country in the spring of 1881 settling in Cedar county, Nebraska. Their mother was Mrs. Magdeline Lux of Hoven, S.D., and three other sisters were Mrs. Martin Lux, of Nezperco, Idaho, Mrs. Mary Gentemann of Yankton, S.D., and Miss Josephine Lux of Hoven, S.D. Two brothers were Peter C. Lux of New Ulm, MN, and John Lux of Hoven, S.D. My great-aunt could possibly tell you more, as Mrs. Fred Schaefer would have been her aunt. Thanks, Peggy
