SOUDER, William Walter

I am attempting to do some genealogy research on my husband's side of the family. Very little is known of his genealogical trail other than his grandfather, William Donald Souder, was born somewhere in AZ, supposedly lived with a Warren family in Cleveland, OH for a time, and then moved to Louisiana where he passed in Dec 1979. Any help or info on this family would be greatly appreciated!

Hi again,

I forgot to include this link, which shows a decision in the Chancery Court of New Jersey from 8-Aug-1900. The decision states that Rhoda Souder is one of the children and heirs of Richard Cresse. This was a statement of fact, not a question in the case.

http://books.google.com/books?id=n-c7AAAAIAAJ&pg=PA1058&...

Cheers
Glen

Dear fellow researchers

I might have a bit more for you on this line. I have a Rhoda Cresse born 2 Sep 1800 in Cape May County, NJ. Her parents were Richard Cresse and Mary Foster.

Richard Cresse was born 16 Sep 1775 in Green Creek Village, Cape May County, NJ and died 5 Aug 1844 in the same place.

Richard married Mary Foster 7-Sep-1798 in Cape May County.

Mary Foster was born 26 Feb 1777 in Cape May and died 8 Jul 1845 in Green Creek, NJ.

Richard and Mary were my 4th great grandparents.

The history gets quite interesting from there. Here's a link to Rhoda on my Hayward-Cresse-Foster-Forster page:

http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

Cheers,
Glen Mathews
I am descended from Jacob Souder and Sarah Felton, thru Thomas Mifflin Souder. Is the Jacob Souder, born in 1700, the father of Jacob who married Sarah Felton? I thought his father could be Thomas Souder, who was an immigrant.

Re: SOUDER - Jacob and Thomas Mifflin line

Thomas Mifflin Souder's wife (Jane Keen) was the daughter of John Keen and Mildred Cooke. John Keen was a Revolutionary War soldier and was wounded at the Battle of Princeton. There's plenty on the Keen family on the internet. As for descendants, I can only give you my line. This is thru Edmund A. Souder. He was born on February 11, 1805. He married Emily Bliss Thacher on July 28, 1834. He died on September 11, 1873. He was a Philadelphia merchant. His son Stephen (They had seven children) was born on October 28th 1839. He married Bertha Vetterlein on May 1, 1862. He died from a stroke on January 15, 1880. Thier son, Ralph Souder was born on December 9, 1865. He married Adalaide Collins on November 16, 1892. He died on May 21, 1941. Their son, Ralph Souder Jr., was born on July 29, 1894. He married Dorothea Baird on May 26, 1922. He died on April 23, 1969. Hope this helps. If there's anything else you wish to know , I'd be happy to help.

GIL,
I am also related to Jacob and Susannah Wright. So far, I have found no clue as to where Jacob came from. I do have a lot of information about the Souder family. My line is: Jacob and Susannah, Thomas Jefferson Souder and Mahala Martin, William Warren Souder, Sr., and Mary M. Howard, Jeff Souder and Sarah Melinda Whitton, Pearl Mae and Joseph Gobel Perkins, Norma Fay Perkins and Hoy Lee Booher, and then me. If you need more info about the family, contact me by email (put Souder Family in the subject line). Also, you can check the website mentioned in an earlier post. Some of my family is not included in that.
Darlene Williams
tinker078@yahoo.com
There is a Gus (Augustus) Souder in my family line. Can not be totally sure yet. It needs confirmation - maybe through military records. In my line there is an Augustus Souder born on 23 August 1917, (same date as the one in the picture you took). If true, I have found where he ended up. He was born to Jeff Souder and Sarah Melinda Whitton in Owen County, KY. I will check the Military Records. If anyone finds proof before I do, please let me know. He was my mom's brother. Thanks, Darlene Williams KY

Mary Souder Coe Baker, Maryland to Ohio

In trying to figure out the various Baker lines from Maryland, I find that Ezra Baker (1801-1873) s/o Frederick (1775-1862) is listed in the Maryland Marriages as having married Mary Souder 4/29/1825 in Frederick County. Mary Souder is also listed as having married Thomas Coe 4/4/1822. Thomas Coe is listed as also marrying Nancy Souder 4/9/1817. I am unable to determine what happened here, so anyone in the know your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Ezra's father had a will in which he divided his estate (minus specific bequests to daughter Matilda and son Aaron) amongst his nine other children, Ezra being one of them. This will is in Liber APK 1 at folio 235 as indicated by William Neal Hurley Jr in his book#28 Baker Families of Maryland on page 170.
Ezra appears in the 1850 census HH32 Clinton, Seneca Co, OH as a Miller born abt 1801 in Maryland, with Mary born abt 1801 also (unsure what state), and children: Jacob 1827, Susan E. 1829, Martha A. 1830, Matilda E. 1832, Frank? A. 1836, Mary J. 1837, Ann P. 1839, Milton E. 1842, John T. 1845. Also living in the area are Ezra's brother William b: abt 1806 MD with his wife Margaret and possibly another brother Frederick A. b: abt 1818.
Ezra married second 12/1/1856 to Ann Sophia Grimm apparently in Frederick County, MD. He is shown in the 1860 census HH 600/636 Clinton, Seneca Co, OH at age 60 as a Master Miller with wife Ann S. age 45 also born in MD, son Milton E. age 17 born OH, son John T. age 15 born OH, Eliza (unsure middle initial) Grimm b:1801 in VA, and Mary Grimm b: 1803 VA. Ezra next appears in the 1870 census HH 39/40 Clinton, Seneca County, OH as a farmer aged 69 born in MD with his wife Ann age 55 born in MD and Eliza Grimm age 68 born in MD.
Anyone having any clue's, I'd really appreciate some advice.

Looking for any information in regard to the John Souder who was born in Pennsylvania about 1812-1816 and married an Anna Miller, born about 1816 to 1822. Not sure if the marriage took place in Pennsylvania or Ohio. John Souder and Anna Miller first lived in Wayne County, Ohio and later moved to the area of Lucas County, Ohio that became Fulton County, Ohio. I do not know the names of Mary's parents.
Possible connection with Frances Souder, c.1850, Perry Co., PA. Married Henry(Heinrich) Rhinesmith. Have done considerable research on Rhinesmith lineage back to Germany 1728 which will share with interested parties and distant cousins.
