Hello,

Thank you very much for your reply.
My Soyas too lived in Lithuania at one time. My great-great-great-grandfather Franz Soya came to Memel (now Klaipeda, Lithuania) arround 1840 from Bojkovice, Moravia. He married there are had many children. One of his sons - Rudolf Soya (my great-great-grandfather) emigrated to Driesen, in Brandenburg/Germany, and changed his name to Vogel. There my great-grandfather was born. He had 15 (!) brothers and sisters. Around 1890, as a cousin from Memel came by en route to supposedly Austrailia, but since according to the Australian records he never arrived there, he might have gone to Amercia instead.
Do you have a town of origin for your Soya's in Lithuania ?

Kind Regards,

Ingolf Vogel
