Solomon Guv (Gove) Speagle married Julia Ann Shuford in Burke Co. NC. His father was Robert Phillip Speagle and his mother was Rachael Rudisill daughter of John Rudisill of Burke Co. NC. They were married Sept. 16, 1858 Burke Co. NC. Robert served in the Civil War. He enlisted in Company F of the 23rd regiment of North Carolina State Troops on Oct. 13, 1863 and was sent home on wounded furlough in the latter part of the following year.Robert was the son of Solomon Speegle son of Michael Speegle and Sarah Jarrett daughter of Samuel Jarrett. Michael is the son of John Martin Speegle and Sarah Nan Jarrett daughter of John Jarrett. These two Sarah Jarrett's are kin. The one that married Michael was the daughter of Sarah Nan Jarrett's brother Samuel Jarrett. John Martin Speegle was born in Germany and came to America in the 1740's on the ship Molly.
