Actually George Richard Speare was the son of George Walter Speare and his first wife Sarah Mitch. George Richard Speare was born in Torquay, Newton Abbot, Devon England on 24 Oct 1887. The family immigrated to Ontario Canada shortly afterwards, first settling in Hamilton, Wentworth County, Ontario by 1891 when the last child born to the first wife, Susan Emily Speare was born 08 Feb 1891. Sarah Ann Mitch died in Southhampton 10 Mar 1896.

I know the marriage registration for George Richard Speare lists his mother as Christina Gray, she was actually his stepmother.
