Hello to Keith and Pauline
I'm trying to trace Rick to share info about my branch of the Sperynge's which goes back to London in the late 1500's and possibly Cambridge before that. I'm writing it all up for posterity on a new website and would like to include other family branches as well. A group of us have already established that our various branches are definitely related via Y-DNA testing - I'd like to do the same with the Sperinck's and other variants.
Please do get in touch with me - I'd love to hear from you.
The website is called the Spearin Surname Project and it is at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~spearin/tr...
Many thanks
Maurice

Hello Keith,

Yes that matches my research - I found Thomas Benjamin (and have traced back his wifes line someway too) and Pauline kindly confirmed that he was the brother of "her" Henry and has set out the rest of his siblings for me.

I also have all of my nans siblings too. She did indeed marry Henry Walls.

Though I had found John of c1813 I had not yet found the link from Thomas Benjamin to him nor of anything prior to John.

Would be great to discuss this further offline - can drop you a note of my phone number and email if thats ok ?

Regards

Jon
Hello Jonathan

Your grandmother Martha Sperinck (1905) is also on the chart produced by Rick Sperinck and mentioned earlier in the thread. According to that, she married Henry Walls in 1934 and her father was Thomas Benjamin Sperinck (1871 - 1944).
His father was Henry (1837 - 1903) who is also an ancestor of Pauline,.
Henry's father John (~1813-72) is a common ancestor of us all.

The Thomas J Sperinck (1881 - 1916) you at first thought was yours, was in fact my great uncle and was killed at the Somme - Rick has visited his grave.

Does that match your research? Happy to take this discussion off line and provide more detail

regards

Keith

Hi Pauline,

Thanks for the reply - my search for the Sperinck side of my family is at an early stage (even more so after I found I had the wrong Thomas !) However I now have found the right one so will mail you with what I know so far.

My Sperincks were also from Bethnal Green/Whitechapel - I suspect there may be a connection...

Regards

Jon

Hi Keith and Pauline,

Literally just stumbled across this forum and thread ! Am researching various branches of my family tree - including the Sperincks of London ! My maternal grandmother was Martha Sperinck born in 1905. Her father I believe was Thomas born c 1881, his father being another Thomas and his father John born around 1813.

Was very interested to hear that name mentioned in your threads as well as a Dutch connection and considerable reasearch already done.

Would be great if either of you were able to let me know of any of this information.

Thanks

Jon

Hi Pauline
Great to hear from you.

In fact the Sperinck line in London has been extensively researched, mostly by my second cousin Rick Sperinck. He has produced a huge chart which includes your ancestor Minnie, and goes back to when the first family members came over from Holland.

There's a gap with regard to the immediate ancestors of John (1813/14) though, unless you know different?

Happy to swap email addresses/telephone numbers to talk further.

Keith

My paternal grandfather's grandmother was Amelia Spearink, born approx. 1835 in Hartley Wintney, Hampshire. She married my great great grandfather, George Stannard, in Farnham in 1859. In the 1881 census it shows that a Theresa Spearink, aged 41 and unmarried, was visiting them. She was also born in Hartley Wintney, possibly Amelia's sister.
My branch was based in London as far back as I can go, John Sperinck born London 1814.

Don't know if there's any tie in with your line, there seem to be Sperincks in London going back to at least 1589 on the IGI.

Can provide more info if you're interested
