I am trying to find the family connection between
John Jackariah (1781-1853 Eng.-Ill.)
and
Elizabeth(Kershaw 1781-1854 Manchester Eng.-Ill.) Spencer
and
James (1807-1876 Lanc.Co.Eng.-Mo.) and Cecilia (Gerard 1806-1899 Lanc.Co.Eng.-Mo.) Spencer of Webster Groves Mo..
James is thought to be the son of John Jackariah and Elizabeth Spencer.
John and Elizabeth came to America @1819 and spent time in Utica New York, moving on to the Grayville White Co. Ill. area.
James came to America and brought his family @1830-1840. He was a landowner there with many homes and worked as a stone mason and farmer. He carved many headstones for the Calvary Cemetery and is buried there (Sec. 12 Lot 95).
His family origin was in Lancashire Co in England and specifically in Clayton Le Woods, an area northwest of Manchester, north of Chorley and east of Brindle.
John and Elizabeth were married at the Chorley Church. The were listed as landholders in White Co. Ill. and in the 1850 census.
They had many children all born in England, some in Brindle, between 1804-1813, most are known to have died in Ill..
(Their daughter Mary became Mother Agnes Spencer who was instrumental in the Sisters of St. Joseph, organizing schools and starting a hospital in Erie Pa..)
