Let me know if your interested, and I will send you the information. But, please use my e-mail address not the board, because I don't read them enough. Not even when I know that some of my friemds and relations are there. Thanks Clarence "Jerry" Sperbeck in El Paso, TX

Clarence,

Thank you. I am not a Sperbeck or a Sperbeck descendant. The picture belonged to my husband's great grand mother and we are assuming it was a friend of hers. My husband's great grand mother was born in Hinmanville, NY in 1879. In 1880 she and her parents had moved to Jackson County, MI and later to Kalkaska, MI. I would like to give the picture to a descendant of Ruth's- it would probably mean more to them than to us.

Your message was forwarded to me. Therre is a Ruth Sperbeck listed in the 1930 census in Otsego County, NY. I'm not sure if this is the lady you are looking for or not. There is a book out with mopst of the Sperbeck's in it. The author is Charley Moore in Glens Falls, NY. The cost is 56 dollars, which is expensive, but is well worth the cost. Please keep in touch, and I'll see what else I can do for you. Where do you live? There is another very knowledgeable lady in CA, Kate Heim @ haywirca@quicknet.com

Sperbeck name

Interesting work your doing, I have never heard of those Sperbeck. but, my grandfather Charles was born in Johnstown, NY. The name goes back to Sparback? Because there were none that I can find before the revolution. There is a man in Glens Falls working on the history now andf another in NJ. I have also been told that the Sperbecks were some of the founding families in Scharrie (?) county.
I know I spelled that wrong, but I have been away from NY for a long time. Anyway the Sperbecks were from an area in Germany called the Palatine, and they were the next settlers of any size in the Mohawk Valley after the Dutch.
