Minneapolis Messenger, Ottawa County, Kansas, Jan. 29, 1914, page 2:
Spidell
Bertha Lee Spidell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Spidell of this city, died at her home in Minneapolis last Sunday afternoon at two o'clock. She was born in Shelby county, Illinois, May 20, 1899, making her fourteen years, eight months and five days of age. The little girl did not become ill until last Thursday afternoon. Her condition became more serious Friday when she became unconscious in which condition she remained until her death. Drs. Brewer and Outland, who treated the case, decided that some trouble in the brain was the cause of death. Her condition made it impossible for the physicians to make a complete diagnosis. Funeral services were conducted at the United Brethren church by Rev. Bertha Fogelberg on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock. Interment was made in Highland cemetery.
Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis, Kansas
