Family name of Spier; Aschwarden-Bruch, Schwanedwede, Germany
date: 1618 and before; vatter (father) of Hendrick Jansen Spier was a Jans Spier, also b of Aschwarden circa 1593.
It is believed the original name was spelled SPIERING of that area as well, and some records found of SPIERING as late as the 1657 - 1690 period. The Evangelical kerch (church) in Bruch first noted in 1107 may contain gravestones yet today but as yet I have found no inventory/accounting of these. Am looking for any help to discover if any Spier- Spiering stones can still be located there. This would supply "positive proof" of a connection there. SPIERING names are known to exist in Nuenkirchen, Farge, Bruch, and other nearby villages. Sharpening one's focus to a "given" area at times provides results.
