I have a possible match to your Spicher. My husbands great grandfather was Addison Spicher Sr. from Natrona Heights/Birdville area (b Jan 5 1876). My husband would be thrilled if you have any possible matches or info. I keep hitting a brick wall and his father can't remember. Addison is also buried in Prospect Cemetery with his wife Maude(Leasure).

My family has the Spiker name, have you searched Wayne County, OH? Many of the Spikers changed the spelling to Speicher. I have no idea why. My family came down through the Speicher/Spiker/Speiger line from Burkes Co. and Somerset Co. in PA.
Through David Speicher d:1871 in Wayne Co., Ohio and had 6 children. Married: Magdalena Coble (from PA) they married in 1819 in Wayne Co., Ohio.

Hello,

I am not clear if you are asking or making a comment. My wife is of the SPIKER/SPEICHER lineage. If you are asking a question, or are in need of some information, perhaps she can help you.

For clarification, if you are trying to connect the dots with information from Charles Blaine SPIKER/SPEICHER's obituary, you will find you are going in circles. The person who put the information together was incorrect. Alice WOLFE MOOMAU was the sister of Charles' wife Mary Hannah WOLFE, not his sister.

Charles Blaine SPIKER/SPEICHER, did not have any siblings, other than the children his mother, Sarah Ann SPIKER/SPEICHER had with Zaccheus Clark GIBSON after their marriage. Which were 1/2 siblings, the son and daughter who died, and Flora Estella "Stella" GIBSON. Charles Blaine was raised by his grandparents. Sarah Ann did not marry Charles Blaine's father.

Charles Blaine and Mary Hannah were married 14 Jul 1910, Keyser, Mineral Co, WV. The James WOLFE noted in Charles Blaine's obituary was Alice's son. Alice had James prior to her marriage to William MOOMAU.

Their children are: Samuel Zaccheus "Zackary", Abt 1912-Dec 1947, Charles Howard, 28 Nov 1914-16 Oct 1952, Violet Marie, 23 Jun 1919-31 Jan 1998, Playford, 24 May 1925-9 Oct 1927.
My grandfather was Andrew Basil Spiker b. April 20, 1872 and d. May 4, 1949 in Iola, Clay County, IL. He was first married to Nellie Mae Leach b. 1886, d. 1923. He later married Edna and she died in 1963. Seven children were born of his first marriage, and three children in his second, one being Basil Spiker of Pontiac, IL. I have been told my great grandparents were W.H.H. Spiker b. Mar 6,1832, d. Nov. 29, 1872 and Martha Jane Hart b. Aug. 14, 1841, d. May 14, 1876.
Hope this helps.

Judy

I am interested in discussing this family with you. I am trying to find the parents of my great grandmother, Laura Louisa Spiker. I recently stumbled across this family in Montgomery County, IA. I believe this family migrated from Henderson County, Illinois. The children were Calvin, Joseph F, William D, John, Florence, Ida, Daniel, and Louisa. All the children were born in Illinois except Louisa.
I hope we can connect this family.
Becky

Hi Ken
See my replies: Wolfe Board - Re: Mary Hannah Wolfe fr Debbie 02/21/2005 and Moomaw Board - Re: Alice Spiker Moomaw fr Debbie 01/18/2005 . The info is from 1920/1930 Census Garrett County, MD, Draft Cards and the local newspaper orbits. I need help. Its like this guy thin air. Can't find in 1900/1910 Census anywhere. My uncle remembers him (was called Spic) and he believes he worked with my granddad on the B&O RR but he never knew or thought he was related. The number of brothers/sisters of Charles and children for Sarah doesn't add up.

Thanks Ken for your reply. I was definitely going in circles. I was planning a trip to Keyser & Kingwood, WV but you filled in a lot of blanks. What was so confusing was that I knew that Charles Blaine (Spic) Spiker had worked with my grandfather, Henry Zelous Gibson ( son of Zaccheus) and "Abe" Holland at the B&O RR Helper Station at Deer Park, MD. I talked with Abe on 7/25/06 and he said that he never knew that Henry & Charles had any family connection. In fact after Charles's wife died Charles boarded with Abe's parents. He also said that Violet Marie had a child of about six years old, named Bonnie, whent she moved to Kingwood, WV just before WWII and Howard also movrd to Kingwood. He heard that Howard was hit by a car there and died, didn't know when. To futher confuse the issue was the fact that Sarah Ann's granddaughter, Saral Lillian (Sarah Ann lived with her for many years in Washington, D.C.) never heard any mention of Charles nor did Sarah Lillian's mother, Fora Estella Gibson mention anything about a son when she was wiriting out her family history. Guess it was suppose to be a big secret. I will get back with you if Sarah Lillian has any questions. The next project is to find all the children of Sarah Ann's brother, Abraham Lincoln Spiker; any help would be deeply appreciated.

Jacob Spiker, widower, married Lucinda Haig in 1840 in York County, Ontario. I believe that Jacob and his first wife were parents to Fannie Spiker born 1832, who married William Crossley in 1859 in York County, son of Daniel Oliver Crossley and Nancy Ann Downey. After Daniel Crossley died, Nancy Ann Downey remarried to William Armstrong and moved to Maryborough, Wellington County, Ontario. I would like to share info on any of these people and their families.

SPIKER/SPIECHER female m/t unk. SLATER MAN, PA-MD?

seeking lost relative... Edna Blanche (Donelson) Spiker/Spiecher, b. 12/1913 loc: unk. Lived in Rockwood in 1913-1918. She may not know of the Donelson name. Parents died in the 1918 flu epdemic, leaving her and her brother Harry Donelson, Jr. orphans. Harry , Jr. went to live with paternal grandparents, it is noted in mother's records that Edna was raised and/or adopted by a Spiecher/Spiker family and that she married an unk. Slater man.
I find an Edna Spiecher in the Mercer Co., PA orphange in the 1920 and 1930 census. Don't know if this is her. It is possible that she went to go live with maternal side of the family. Her mother's maiden name was Howard, who was born in Bakersville, Pa. but there is Speicher name on her side of the family whom lived in MD or could be her grandmother's side of the family name Spiecher/Spiker.
Have a picture of her when she was small b4 1918. Also her name, Edna Blanche Donelson and birth date is in the Donelson family bible. Seems noone knows nothing else about this girl.
Is there anyone out there, that any of these names sound familiar? Bigges block....

I am looking for any information on a Jackson & Clara Spiker who lived in Natrona in Allegheny Co., PA from 1870's-1920's. Clara was my great grandfather's sister.

Jackson died sometime between 1891 and 1900. Clara was the daughter of Joseph and Anna McKim Lammay (LaMay). She was raised by Joseph but I believe her real father was Myers S. Chalfant. I think she died between 1910 and 1920.

Their children were:
Harry b. 1874
Annie b. 1878
Maude b. 1880
Charles b. 1883
William b. 1885
Eddie b. 1888
Elmer b. 1891

I believe at least their son William remained in the Natrona area.

Thanks,

Margie
