Hello adkgirl,
My name is Charles Spinks and I am a descendant of an Ishmael Spink that had Seneca, Benjamin, Robert, and Peleg for sons AND Jane, Elizabeth, and Mary for daugters. This Ishmael died in 1813. I noticed that you gave a date of July 18, 1813 for the probation of the Will of which you refer.
Also, this Ishmael died in Hampton, Washington, New York.
What I find interesting here is that said Ishmael had a second marriage that descended a Polly Spink.
Please feel free to email me off-post at Redfeennix@yahoo.com. Is it possible that you could attach the copy of the will that you have ?
I have a fair amount of info on Polly Spink.

Regards,
Charles

Polly Spink - married Truman West

I am looking for any information on Polly Spink.

Polly Spink born March 26, 1803, died Jan 1870 in Fort Ann, Washington Co, NY. I believe she is buried on the West Farm in Fort Ann with her spouse. She married Truman West on March 3, 1825. Truman was born Jan 13, 1801 and died July 19 1858, Fort Ann, Washington Co, NY. His parents are Daniel West and Martha Sweet.

I am unsure who sired Polly. The information I have recieved does not indicated her parentage, however, she does have an uncle Seneca Spink. There is a 1860 census from New York where there is a Seneca living with her and her two daughters.

The notes I recieved said that Seneca may have been born in 1807 and may have died March 25, 1870 in the Argyle Poor House. He has brothers, Benjamin, Peleg, Robert and Ishmael. It also says that the brothers are sons of Ishmael and Mary Spink of Arlington, VT. The source is a will probates July 18, 1813 (whose will it is is not mentioned) and Ishmael and Mary's daughters are Jane, Elizabeth and Mary. And that these Spinks families lived in the town of Hampton, NY where some are buried.

The data you on the ancestry of Paul Spink is still in question. Someone sent me the data on the will of Ishmael(his father?), i.e.
Abstracts of Wills, Washington co, NY 1788-1825 p. 47
Will of Ishmael Spink of Arlington Vt dated 8-23-01, probated 7-19-1813 mentions sons: Benjamin, Seneca, Peleg, Robert, Ishamel and daughters, Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, and wife Lucy. Witnesses: Cyperian Downer, Francis Mattison,a nd Judah Worden.
Actual copy of will lists another son, Job which was missing from the abstract.
(Ishmael leaves all his living children $1, with the exception of Mary, and he left one cow, five sheep and a feather bed, and Ishmael got $250)
Land Records: Lucy Clemons, Ishmael Spink & Nelson Spink sold Hampton property to Gilbert Leonard that Ishmael Spink, deceased of Hampton purchased in 1810 from John Williams. (Note: Lucy Spink marries Jonathan Clemons after the death of Ishmael)
It is clear Lucy Worden was his wife and thus Judah Matteson must have died earlier or?? I am still somewht confused on this. Also the will does NOT mention Paul at all.
Steve Kelsey

Kingston/Kingstown RI Spink

This is an open plea to anyone with information or local news/stories regarding the Sanford Congdon Spink family of Kingston/Kingstown RI circa 1901-1930. My Grandfather was Cedric F. Spink B:1901 RI - son of Sanford and Emma, grandson of Job R.Spink & Esther Sanford. He ran away from the family after 1920 and went into hiding. I believe this was because of possible criminal activity. Does anyone have a clue why he might have left? OR does anyone have an idea about where I could search for information? karaleigh@Karaleigh.com

Regarding Ishmael's will. Paul Spink was not born until 1802 and the will was written in 1800 in Arlington. Thus there are several Spink children which did not make the will. I have a copy of a genealogy written by Polly Spink son, Rev. Fred Ryon. He lists his grandfather Paul, and the other children of Ishmael and Lucy. I have checked out the information and it is correct.
"Early They Came p. 222
Paul Spink came to Hanover from NY in 1835 stopping first in the village of Concord. On July 20, 1835, he filed for and was granted a land patent on 80 acres of land in Section 28, of Hanover."
Paul came with his mother Lucy Spink-Clemons, sister Polly Clemons, brother Nelson Spink who remained in Concord.

Steve,

How many Capt. Ishmael Spink's do you have in your database? I am from Capt. Ishmael Spink that was the son of Robert and Alice (Hewes?) Spink. Was there another Capt. further down the line? I have the Spink line from the RI Genealogical Register. Could you give me the line up from this Ishmael and I can see what Alden has and see if he mentions Paul as a son of this Ishmael.

Brett

Those that I DO have are Paul b. Aug, 1802
Judith b. ~1806/7
Elsie or Elsey b. Aug 1, 1810
Ishmael b. 1797
Elisha b. 1805
and Nelson b.
