Hi Mary (Ann) Springsteen born 1753 married Joseph Pringle/Prindle. Military documents record that Prindle was an error, but continued showing and using either spelling. There son Simeon was born in Frederiskburg Ontario in 1783. He married Nancy Dafoe. These are my gr gr gr grandparents.

The confusion stems from a thread that has another Peter Springsteen/Springstead a being the father but I have in my possesion a Commemorative Biographical record from the period handed down to me from my father that verifies the relationship.

I'm looking for more information on Henry Springsteen (b. 1804) and his wife, Hannah Springsteen (b. 1802). Henry was a blacksmith. They were both born in New York. Not sure if they were born in Brooklyn but they later settled there. Their son lived specifically in the Flatlands section of Brooklyn. Seeking any info on the family of David Springsteen (ancestors or descendants), born ca 1800 in Canada. In 1850 he and his family were living in Fenton, Genesee Co., MI. In 1860, they were living in Detroit, Wayne Co., MI. From the censuses and a book about the desc. of Robert Paddock, I have been able to determine these family members:

Wife: Clara Delano, born ca 1802 in NH
Children:
Hester - born ca 1826 in NY; died June 1876 Wayne Co., MI
David - born ca 1828 in NY
Silas - born Aug. 1830 in NY; married Mary A. Paddock 1854, Genesee Co., MI
Mary C. - born ca 1832 in NY; married George W. Dibble
Phebe - born ca 1834 in NY
Louis/Lewis - born ca 1836 in NY
William E - born ca 1838 in NY
Lois - born ca 1841 in NY
Annie - born ca 1844 in NY (this may be the same child as Lois)

David Sr. died before 1870. Clara died after 1880.

Thank you for your response. It seems that the Springsteen surname is well documented, going back to colonial America. On his maternal side, Bruce Springsteen's grandfather (Zerilli) was born in Italy, and raised in New York City. He was a lawyer in Brooklyn, and married three times. His parents (Zerilli) are buried in New York City. Sadly, there resting place is unmarked.

So far, I've completed a four-generation chart. Now, I'm seeking to add more information. If you like, I could help you tie into these Springsteen's. Just drop me a line if you are interested.

Virgil was my great grandfather born around 1856 married into willson family of blenhiem,kent county of south ontario , Canada. anyone out there know where he came from? I suspect that he may have come up from Michigan but am not sure as most of the springsteens that i've located from that period were out in western canada by that time and there is no mention of a virgil springsteen in their lines. he died 1925 left behind my grandfather Clayton who was married to Emma Roseborrough of Blenhiem ontario, canada and they had a son Dennis my father and a daughter Johanne my aunt.

In 1840 the only Springsteen in Indiana is a John Springsteen in Lawrence, Marion Co. In his household are 2 males 10-under 20, 1 male 20-under 30 & 1 male 50-under 60. Also, 2 females under 5, 1 female 5-under 10, 1 female 10-under 20, 1 female 20-under 30 & 1 female 40-under 50. In 1850 in Buck Creek, Hancock Co, IN. there is a John Springsteen age 68, b. NY, a carpenter. With him is Mary, 50, b. PA., Sarah, 17 & Missouri, 15, both born Ohio & Eliza, 11, b. IN. This could be your Jefferson`s parents & siblings.

hi, the teneck name is in the family. staats springsteen was a son to samual springsteen. the name springsteen was changed a lot to stead, spring, stien,and steel. makes it confushing. i will look in my records and see what i can find. i have the cd by andrew provost on the springsteen and related familys. i come doem from melchior casper springsteen as does samual. so we could be related. i will keep in touch. marie

Do you have any information conclusively connecting my Robert Teneyck with your family? My only evidence is Margaret Teneyck's death certificate, and in it her father's name is spelled "statts springsteel" To further complicate matters, our family lore has Margaret's maiden name as "Springstead".
Margaret's maiden name is listed as Margaret Lent, which is what led me to your posting.

His father was Douglas (Dutch) Springsteen, grandfather:
Frederick Springsteen and Great Grandfather: Antony Springsteen. My family is decended from one of the Springsteen lines but I've been unable to find where Bruce Springsteen and my Springsteen's connect.

my papers. Unfortunately, they are a mess and I haven't
worked on the Springsteen History for quite some time.
However, this is what I have now found:

John Springsteen - Born: June 3, 1759-Died: Oct. 10, 1844
He was married to Catherine Van Pelt
Son: William Springsteen - Born: June 13, 1793-Died: No. Info.
William's son: Alexander A. Born: January 3, 1822-Died:
June 16, 1886. He had three known children: George L.,
Antony (Bruce Springsteen's ancester) Antony was born
May 5, 1871. He was a veteran of the Civil War - Company
A 14th Inf. Regiment 1862-1865 N.J. He married Martha Ann
O'Hagon (O'Hogan) Their son: Frederick Springsteen - Born:
approximately 1901 in New Jersey was the father of
Douglas "Dutch" Springsteen (Bruce Springsteen's father)

My ancesters all seem to stem from the State of New York.
My great grandfather was named William Springsteen and
my Great Grandmother was Hannah Jane DeGroot. There are
so many Williams in this family, it is difficult. Anything
you might have would be appreciated.

Elizabeth Briant was John Springsteen's 2nd wife married 23 Aug 1805. He married first Catherine Van Pelt Mar 1783 and had two son's I know of: James and Alexander. The pension application you have is referring to daughter of John and Elizabeth Briant Springsteen: Mary Springsteen Babcock, who took her mother to live with her in NY due to her age and infirmity. my email is sixtythreevette@comcast.net if you want to know more.
