I have just visited Weare Giffard and barnstable library and discovered that all my grandfather's siblings bar one were born in Weare Giffard, John Henry being the only one not and he was born in Bideford.
I also discovered that their parents Thomas and Ann both came from a village called Frithelstock just a few miles away. They apparently settled in Weare Giffard sometime between 1883 and 1886. Look forward to any further information.
