I believe my grandmother has those pictures. It may take a bit for me to acquire it and scan it in. I know my dad, aunt and I would be interested in a pick of Scena. :D

Donald Srum actually comes from further up the line. I think he descends from Levi Srum (brother of Jonas Srum). You and I are more closely related than that.

I never really knew how long Arnie lived, but it seems he wasn't very old when he died. Perhaps he did not have any children?

I have seen a picture of Bess Srum.. I think she was a missionary of some sort?

My dad knows a little more of the details than I do but most of those details came from Donald Srum who contacted my grandfather a few years before he passed away.

My husband and I live in Oklahoma (my last name is now James) along with my sister and her family (she is now a Schweikhart) and my parents and grand mother and have a brother (and his wife) in Arkansas who is the only descendent to carry on our branch of the families name. He is in his mid 20's and is planning to try for a child soon.

My dad has two sisters, Mary Parks and Carolyn Hoover. Mary has been trying to do some research of her own but I am not sure how much she has discovered.

None of us have had much luck tracing back from the three brothers (John, Jonas, and Levi). I suspect that we are related to the people who spell the name as Shrum because I did see records of Levi Shrum who appeared to be the same age and born in the same place. However, not Jonas who is our direct line. I think that could be because there may have been more than one Jonas.

If we are related to the Shrum's, I believe from their records (they have a whole book on their genealogy) that the name was originally spelled Schramm.

We are definitly cousins. The elder Walter Lee Srum (1885-1920)was the brother of my grandmother, Scena Margaret Srum (1883-1930's)
The Henry and Bess Srum buried in New Harmony cemetary are brother and sister to the elder Walte Lee Srum.
I have been to the New Harmony cemetary and taked pictures of the gravestones.
Scena Margaret Srum married Julias Franklin Davis which is my line and also the line of Jimmy and Marcia Suggs. Jimmy is my first cousin.
William Lee Srum younest son was Arnie Srum (1894-1919). Is this the father of Donald Srum who lives in Missouri/Illinois?
From the Social Security deat index I noticed that your garndfather was living in Oklahoma at the time of his death in 1990. Is Oklahoma wher you live? I was raised in Missouri but not live in Florida.

George Davis

Well I don't have it memorized, but I believe that William H. Srum is buried in Arkansas as are a lot of his relatives. Most of which are in the New Harmony cemetary which is an out of the way little overgrown cemetary near Hartford.

William H. Srum was father of Walter Lee Srum Who then fathered my grandpa Walter Lee Srum (also known as Jack) out of wedlock. My gradfather was born in Hartford, Arkansas in 1919 and passed away some time around 1990.

William H. Srum was born in 1844 in St. Francis County, Arkansas whose father was Jonas Srum, born 1815 in NC. Jonas had two brothers that we know of named Levi and John (although John Jonas and Levi as well as Henry are family names and each named kids after the other and made it pretty confusing)

We are also sometimes in contact with Donald Srum who sometimes lives in Missouri and has children and grandchildren that live up north in Illinois. I think he also sometimes resides in Illinois. I think his father was named Armand.

Anyway in New Harmony cemetary is a Henry Srum & Dessau Srum as well as I think a Bess Srum and others I have forgotten the name of.

You are related to Marcia Suggs and Jimmy Suggs aren't you? I emailed with her briefly around 2001 time frame. I think I also emailed with you around 2002.
