I have used some of the information from other boards as leads, but I am not sure that I have anything definite. I have identified Onesime James St. Arno/Arnaud (1852-1943)as my G G grand father. My mother (St. Arno) knew this couple as Alice Bruno and James St. Arnaud and knew they came from Trois Rivieres Canada, settling in the Schoolcraft/Delta county area of UP Michigan in the 1880s.

I was wondering if there was any positive ID on origins Elix. I know her name has been written several different ways and there are also several different Marie-Alise, Rose-Marie Alise etc. floating around. Has anyone nailed down the origins of the Elix/Alix Bruneau that married Onesime James St. Arnaud?

Jane left England sometime after 1861.Her brother John had emigrated in 1849.She may have taught at a Wesleyan School in Wangaratta but she married a Welsh born widower,Owen Jones (b. c. 1819,Holyhead,Angelsey, North Wales son of John and Ann nee Roberts)at St.Arnaud on December 15th 1865.They married at the residence of Mr. Charles Henry Brown,Miner. At the time Jane was resident at St. Arnaud, Owen at Peters Creek. It seems a George Dobson and Felix Heal were their witnesses.
Jane and Owen had a son in 1870 whom they named Harold Owen Jones and they then returned to Holyhead.
It is most likely Owen Jones who was widowed in 1862, had emigrated to Australia with his first wife and maybe had children who stayed in Austalia when their father left.
It has also been considered that Jane went to Australia with her parents,George and Ann Rushton but so far no death records have been traced for them in Victoria.
Any clues about the history of any of the above named people would be most valuable to receive.

Hello Lindsey. My great, great, great, etc grandfather was a Charbonneau and he came over from France with his wife. They had as far as i know 8 children. I am descended from one brother while the grandson of another married Sacajewea. So yes there is a connection but it is not direct, it is the old 8th cousin twice removed type of thing, haha. Your parents can expalin that i hope as it still messes me up. It is nice to see that you are interested in where you come from as it is important to know your past, and it can be a great hobby.
If you are truly interested in learning about your families past, ask as many of your uncles and aunts questions about their families, their parents, grandparents all that stuff. You will be surprised what they will remember and even the stories they can tell. If you have a tape recorder it will be even better. You can record tales that future generations would love to hear. And it gives you valuable information on tape you can go back to later for research.
Well i have been rambling enough. Good luck in your searching, and if ok with parents i can be contacted at Jmus2u@aol.com
Sincerely, Joe Musial
James Santanna/St Arnaud

Looking for any info on James Santa Anna/Santanna he was born in 1883 in CT. Father Majoric St Arnaud/Santa Anna.
James' wife is listed as Eleanor Boyle, however, believe he was married to Catherine Quill prior to that marriage she died young leaving 2 children - James and Arthur. James Santa Anna's obit supposedly states that he left an insurance policy to James Jr, however there is not a James listed as a child of Eleanor. Any info appreciated - just looking to make the connection. Thanks

Cindy
