Classification: Query
Surnames: Stables,
My brickwall with the Stables lineage is trying to find where John Stables and Wife Betty MOOR(s) come from. They married in 1815 in Bolton le Moors.

I have their family living in Bolton le Moors (present day Bolton) in the 1820-1830 period.

Hannah b 1815 Bolton m John JONES
Margaret b 1818 Bolton
Robert b 1820 Bolton (my g-g-grandfather)
Christiana b 1823 Preston m William CLEGG
John (or Jonathon) b 1828 Bolton
William Norris b 1825 Bolton?

Robert was living in Manchester in 1841 when he married Matilda STACKHOUSE. It would appear that the family had moved from Bolton to Manchester as Christiana also married in Manchester.

In the 1850's Robert and Matilda moved to Wolverhampton where he worked as a Locomotive Engine Fitter.

Problem with John Stables being the father is that in Lancashire there are so many John's some also with wives called Betty or Eliza (a name used by Robert's mother on later census records)

I did find a Betty Moors born in Durham which makes me wonder if John's family came from the NE of England instead of the NW.

Has anyone got a Betty MOOR father possibly George MOOR in their tree?

Jean
