I have been searching for my gg grandfather Reuben William Stables for the longest time with no luck whatsoever. I know that he was born in KY in 1853 and that his parents were Elihu Reuben Stables b. England. I have located Elihue in the 1841 thru to the 1851 UK census. The next time I locate a document on him is his marriage on July 26 1852 in Hamilton Co., OH to Elizabeth Atkins/Atkinson. I find the marriage certificate confusing because it list her maiden name as both Atkins and Atkinson. In the hopes that Reuben's death certificate would shine some light on some information I ordered his DC only to find that the mother's name is listed as Atkinson and the only new info that I learned was that she was born in Eng. I have not been able to locate Elihu Reuben Stables or his wife Elizabeth in either the US or UK census and their son Reuben I was able to find him in Eng 1881 census with his wife Elizabeth and children. I have obits, death certificates and all other census information that I could find. It is totally driving me nuts that I can not locate them in either the 1860 thru 1880 US census or the 1861 and 1871 UK census. Can somebody tell me what I am forgetting to do? Or should I just give up trying to search for my gg grandfather and his parents. Any help, idea's, or clue's would be wonderful as to what should be my next step in searching. Thanks in advance
