Looking for anyone researching the Stacy families found in Stoddard in the early 1800s.
Specifically, I'm looking for the parents' information on Alvah A. Stacy, b. Feb 1827 in Stoddard. Alvah was in Winchendon, MA in 1850 and died in New Ipswich, NH in 1897, buried in Ashby, MA. In 1857, Alvah m. Eliza Ann Petts who was b. 1832 Stoddard, d. 1882 New Ipswich.
According to his marriage and death records, his father was Samuel b. in Mass. and mother was Mary b. in Maine - but Mary who?
Samuel and Mary are found living in Stoddard as late as the 1850 census. There is a marriage record for Samuel Stacy and Mary Hardy found at the NH archives: Samuel Stacy b. in Groton, MA to Mary Hardy b. in Stoddard - of course this doesn't jive with what is found in other records, but it wouldn't be the first time VRS and census records were wrong!
If anyone has information on this family, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks,
Deb
