You are exactly right. As a matter of fact, just yesterday I uploaded to my ancestry.com tree a photo of Elsie, her sister Lona, brothers Charles and John Newton. This is the only photo I have of any of them. Any additional documents or photos would be greatly appreciated.

Please help! My grandfather, Harold Henry Stacy, was the son of John Luther Stacy (lived for a good while in West Virginia). His mother was Princess Stacy but he had no contact with his father growing up. All I know is that John Luther may have been born around 1905 and spent some time in War, West Virginia. Please help, I'm completely stuck on this one!

The book: NOTES, HISTORICAL, DESCRIPTIVE AND PERSONAL OF LIVERMORE IN ANDROSCOGGIN, FORMERLY OXFORD CO.,1874 references the following STACY children who attended school in Livermore, 1806-1810 or 1811--Dolly, William, Hiram, Sukey. Seeking information on these STACY children. Could their father have been John--what happened to this family? Did not find them in Livermore in the 1820 Census. Any information appreciated.

Married Louise Slyfield 24 Sept 1903 in St.Paul Minnesota, Married Mae Henderson Strong 7 Sept 1922. Mae was born in Scotland in 1877 and died 23 Feb 1946 in San Bernandino, California.
What kind of work did Harry do? Did he have any children?

The last residence I can find a record for is in Harlan, KY in 1920. She lived with her daughter, Lissie Farmer. I don't have any more information on her death, only what I have found from other people. So the 1940 date may not be right. I would assume the death was in Harlan or Knox county in KY, being that most of the family lived in those areas.

There was a sister, Florence, who was about 18 when Don was born and a brother, Cleatis, who was about 16 when he was born. Beatrice passed away about a year after his birth. He was adopted by Erwin and Nellie (nee Combs) Maggard.

Hi. Sorry for the delay. Several hrs. reserch of Lee Co., VA records, and LDS Family Search Records (Morman Archives), answered some of your questions, but there is some confusion in the records and unfound records that leave some questions unanswered. I found Lillie V. Maness's ancestors back to 1782. But i could not prove that James Stacey, b. ca 1826 was the father of William Stacey, b. 1856, Hancock Co., Tn. In fact, the census records seem to indicate that James was an Uncle of William. I found the parents to George Fry Ely Burgan/Burgin. His 2nd mariage was to Sarah E. Daugherty. b. 1863, Ky. Her parents were not found. My research notes run to 7 pages; too much to e-mail. Please e-mail your postal mailing address to me at: cressoakridge@aol.com No charge. John Buford Davis born abt 1868. He married a Rose Stacy. They had 2 childern that I know of. 1 boy name unknown,1 girl Ida May born 1893 in or around Kennett Missouri. He had family in Missouri. The son was taken in by a relative and moved to another state. John had a sister that was taken in by a relative and moved to another state she had the family Bible. His father owned land around Knoxville and along the river. The father died in the Civil War.

Have just seen your message, Debbie re the Stacy family. William S Stacy was my great grandfather and his son Gerald S Stacy was my grandfather. They lived in Drayton House, West Drayton and the family can be seen documented on the 1891 census. Gerald had two daughters, the eldest Geraldine is still alive aged 92 and the younger was my mother Monica Joan who was born in 1918 and died in 2007 aged 89. If I can help you further I will.

Death of Mrs. Miles Stacy

A Suspended Corpse

Daingerfield, Morris County, Texas, August 5 - News reached this place this morning that the dead body of a woman was found suspended from a limb of a tree and that an examination of the corpse revealed the fact that it was the remains of Mrs. Miles Stacy.

The scene is about six miles east of this place, and as yet the full details are not at hand. Mrs. Stacy formerly lived near this place. She moved from this to Hill County, and recently returned here on a visit. Her health has been poor, and for some time she has been regarded of unsound mind.

The rope suspending her corpse was made of some clothing known to have been worn by her. The garments were torn into strips of equal width, tied together ans twisted into a rope. No cause for self-destruction is known. The body was warm when discovered early in the morning, but life was extinct. Officers have gone to the scene to investigate the matter.

We have traced John Stacy back as well and ran into a brick wall we were told that John took his mother name because the fathers family had money and did not want it to be known that there was a illegimate son and that the fathers name was Terry.
