I'm trying to determine a connection between the Rhue (Rue/Rew) family of Orange Co NC and a Stagg family there.

In 1850, Thomas Rhue Jr. (born 1785 NC) had Goodman Stagg age 13 living with the family. Sarah Rhue (probaby Thomas' sister) born 1777 married Robert Ashley in 1797. A son (probably) of theirs born c1804 was named Squire Stagg or Staggs Ashley.

There were several Stagg or Staggs families in Orange County, so I assume there may have been a connection to my Rhue ancestors.

Can anybody provide any hints on these North Carolina Stagg families?
