My ggrand-father was Ferdinand Daniel Wegner, who was born October 19, 1870 in Posen, Germany. He emmigrated from Bremen to the U.S., arriving at the port of Baltimore on March 5, 1889. He and Maria Stahlheber, both of Halstead, Kansas were married in Newton, Kansas on October 1, 1891. Their marriage was witnessed by Wilhelm Wegner, of whom I know nothing. Ferdinand and Mary had a son named Carl, who was born September 7, 1891 in Halstead, Kansas. They then moved to Webster, South Dakota before May, 1894, had more children and lived out their lives in that area. Ferdinand later changed his last name to Wagner on his naturalization papers.
