Burr Watkins Leyson

I have done quite a bit of research on the John Leyson family of Wales, who immigrated to the U.S. and died 25 Feb 1889, in Barneveld, Iowa County, Wisconsin. He married Esther in 1831 in Wales. One of his seven children was David Bassett Leyson, b. 1837 in West Penn, Schuylkill Co., Pennsylvania. David and his wife, Esther Watkins, had four children and I am interested in Burr Watkins Leyson, their youngest child, who died in Neihart, Montana in 1928. Burr's second wife, Cora Belle Cartland, was my ancestor. I am trying to locate where they are buried. Most members of the Leyson family were miners and lived in the states of Wisconsin, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, and Canada. Please contact me if you have any information on any members of this Leyson family. I have submitted them in the Ayling Family History on Ancestry.com.

Oh? I didnt know that but its good to know! Ok well I'll start with me since thats what I know... Im Tesla Stainbrook and I have a brother Cooper. Our dad Cris is married to Dorothy (Anderson) and has 2 brothers and a sister- Craig (who has two sons, Trent and Travis, married to Sheila Harbaugh), Curt (son Eric, married to Joan Anderson) and Lori (Michael and Michelle, divorced from Lou Brock). They're dad was Willis "Punk" Stainbrook, who was married to Helen Newman until he died last year in February. His dad was Ralph Stainbrook who was married to Ethel Robida and had 5 kids--Lawerence, Judd, Vera, Lola, and Willis. Ralph's parents were Jacob A. Stainbrook and Adila E Crane. Ethel's parents were Manuel Robida and Epilda Corby. I havent figured out yet who Jacob's mother is but I believe his father is Joseph Benjamin Stainbrook, who was born on Sept. 29, 1823 in Mead, PA. And died June 26, 1906 in Brandon, IA. My dad might have more information so I will ask him and let you know if he does.

As you may know, Margaret Stainbrook has passed away
I'm trying to keep the Stainbrook TREE going...
She was working on a "second" Stain/Steinbrook Book
at her death. Some of us are trying to get rights to
that unfinished Book & get it finished & out to All.
I suggest the possibilty that Catherine Stainbrook was married to George Frederick Kightlinger whose father was Andrew Kightlinger. And Margaret Baird married George W. Kightlinger whose father was Abraham Kightlinger. See if this information might fit your data. These families were quite close. I'm primarily interested in the Stainbrooks and would appreciate any exchange of information that you may have.

I was wondering if anyone could help me clear something up. I have a Catherine Stainbrook who married George Kightlinger in Pennsylvania ca 1800. I also have another George Kightlinger (both George's born 1789 in PA) who married a Margaret Baird. Can anyone clear up who these two George's parents were? I see trees that show the same parents for both and that's obviously not right. Does anyone have knowledge of the Kightlingers?

I'll look into it. He may have been my Grandfathers brother. Maybe a cousin. I will be going back to Florence and Canyon City this next spring to take care of a pioneer cemetery of ours between these two towns. I think your Stainbrook might be buried in the old Canyon City Cemetery and I will check. Years ago at my father’s funeral we got together afterwards and made a midnight trip to this cemetery after my Uncle Cecil mentioned that there was a Stainbrook buried there. Grabbed flashlights and climbed over the fence and there it was. After my father passed, Cecile became the family historian. The marker is for a Stainbrook, male and has forgotten the first name. He died of lead poisoning according to the wording on the marker. Makes you wonder. Anyway any Stainbrook in Fremont County which incorporates these two towns, were brothers I am sure. Aden was a teamster for most of his life. My family branches were the original settlers in this area. My Great Great Grandfather McCumber settled the area in 1852 and was one of the first two white men in the area. He arrived along with a McCandless (spelling ?). I have the correct spelling if I am wrong somewhere. He settled on 40 acres along what is now the old highway, and the property was lost in the depression and one of the Oil Company's bought it for the oil under the area. We have a pioneer cemetery on the hill along side the road and McCumbers, Stainbrooks, Pecones and James take care of the graves. My Great Grandmother McCumber is buried there after she and my great uncle died of Small Pox. You could not be buried in the regular areas if you died from the Pox. He and McCandless shared the property with a Ute Indian tribe in this area and got along fine with them. This can't be said of the whites around Denver as they got together in later years and were responsible for a terrible massacre

Hi
I have seen that Henry b 1826 Muskingum Co. Ohio is son of Henry and then removed to Seneca Ohio and died there. I have been tracking him through census and some other records. Well I find that he is the son of Abraham 1797Pa. and Sarah Weller. He is in the 1850 Brushcreek Muskingum Co census with Abraham and 9 brothers and sisters. By 1860 he is in Vinton Co.Ohio a few farms away from his brother John S. I find him there with his wife Mary and kids until 1880 census and have seen death record reference that he died in Vinton Co. in 1887. My line comes down through Henry's son James A b 1860 who married Mary Alice Groves b 1864. Mary Alice's parent where James Calvin Groves and Christina Dozer. James and Mary Alice had 5 kids.Their son Clarence b 1880. Clarence married Maude Pearl Pennell and had 12 kids. Their son Lawrence Steinbrook b 1911 was my Grandpa. Any one else searching this line? I have some really nice people help me and Im looking for some more ties and info. Thanks for reading. Please note the new email address
Susan Comer Murphy
Bridget,
Just looked on the 1900 census. Richard DeKruyff and Jennie Downs had daughter Ada L. born 1896. I also know my parents had friends or relatives with the surname Nelson Will look at their Memorial book and see if I can find a signature. hambrown@juno.com

My parents died in 1955 and in their memorial book, are the signatures of Mr & Mrs Gary Kruyff (brother of Ada) and right above it are Mr. & Mrs Harry Nelson. Could this be the Nelson that Ada Kruyff Stainbrook married or maybe a son. Anyone know if Ada and Richard Stainbrook had children before he died?
If so, they would be in my Downs/Hennessey line.Would like email addresses of anyone interested in that family.
hambrown@juno.com

I have a Susannah Stainbrook b abt 1780 in Berks County, PA who married Michael Kightlinger b abt 1785. She died in childbirth of daughter Catherine who survived. Michael and second wife had a son named George. They lived in Venango County PA.

I don't know if this connects with your query or not. I'm a Kightlinger descendant of second wife.
