Obituary from Paulding Co, OH of 23 May 1895.
David W. Stair was born in 1844 in Wayne County, Ohio. Died April 27, 1895 at his home in North Yakima, Washington. He enlisted in the 38th O. V. V. I. September 15, 1861; re-enlisted in Dec., 1863 and served to the close of the war. He was in all the battles in which his regiment was engaged. After his discharge, he attended school one year at Lebanon, O.; then came to Nebraska where he farmed and taught school. He served as county surveyor several years and then returned to Lebanon, O., to complete a Normal course, after which he entered the law course at Ann Arbor, Mich., where he graduated. After his return to Nebraska, he practiced law at Crete a short time and then removed to the Pacific coast. In the spring of 1877, he returned to Pawnee and was married to Miss Ella Parker. He then removed to Puget Sound, later to Yakima, where he engaged in the practice of law. He leaves a wife and three sons, an aged father, one brother and three sisters.
