I'm looking for information on the marriage of Nancy Stake to a REA in the Amberson Valley, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. The most likely prospects are Thomas Elial REA (1826-1852) or William REA (1829 - 1861/65), both of whom died relatively young.
Thomas is buried in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where he probably died when he accompanied his brother James Azel REA and James' new wife, Lucinda Barber to Wisconsin from Ohio in 1852. His cause of death is unknown, but he must have died between April 11th, 1852 and December 31, 1852.
William is said to have died at the battle of Murphreesburg, during the Civil War, but he is not listed as a member of any Pennsylavania regiments who fought there. Assuming he did die during the war, it was not at this battle, but somewhere else. Therefore, we can only conclude William died sometime between 1861 and 1865.
Given that Nancy died just two years after the Civil War and considering that, in many cases, it's quite common for a person to die within a few years of a spouse's death, it's quite possible that William REA was her husband. Of course, the same argument could be made for Thomas, as well, though, by 1867, Thomas had been dead for 15 years, which is less compelling than the mere 2 to 6 years between William's death and Nancy's. Even so, more data is needed to make a certain indentification of Nancy's husband, so I'm asking for any help I can get in finding a marriage record for Nancy Stake and any REA. Thanks.
