Hello Sue,
I have just seen your e-mail to my cousin Marilyn Stephens.
I think your information is possibly missing a generation. To the best of my knowledge, the daughter of Mary Standidge (died 1821) and John Thornton(died 1787) married Thomas Walton in 1792. It appears Mary Standidge Thornton remarried in 1788 to James Thornton (possibly a brother of John). Yes, Sir Samuel did leave mainly property to his Walton grandchildren and all of his other grandchildren, but the bulk of his estate was left to his daughter Mary Thornton. She in turn left her estate to Samuel Standidge Slater, my g-g-g-grandfather.
Kind regards
Susanne Delahunty

James and Viola are buried in Lampasas County, TX - William Veron is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery in Dallas, Tarrant County TX - he married a Pearl M Curtis and they had three sons, James Viron, Billie Gene and Robert Wayne Standard.

Pearl Mozelle Curtis is believed to have been the daughter of Luther Curtis and his wife Mollie.

I would be very interested in contacting any of these two families descendents for the purpose of family research.

John William Standard 1872-1940

My husband's grandmother, Rosa Lee Ehmann-Senn, married a William Standard sometime between 1920 and 1940 in Shawnee, OK. Her husband left her with 6 children. In her depression, she took them to the river with the intentions of drowning them, then killing herself. The kids kicked up a ruckus and someone called whatever branch of the law he was a part of. Standard responded, apparently fell in love with her and they married, but he died. That's all I know about him. Her father is buried in Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee and I found a listing there for a John William Standard, b. 11/17/1872 d. 2/14/1940. I wonder if this could be him? I would love more information on him. I believe he had a son, named for him, from a previous marriage which left him a widower. Thanks for any info.

I am a descendant of James. My information does not show any other children. Now I can add your information on Alexander to my family history. We knew that James was born in 1755 and the other information you gave me I already had. Do you have any information prior to James JR? I will try the message board you mentioned. Thanks. Hope you have more information for me.

Tom,
I'm also quite interested in this branch of the Standard's. Are ou referring to this Thomas as residing in Union Co. IL? My line also stems from thomas & Nancy thru their son John S. maybe?? unsure as to who my John's actual parents were. He was born in Christian Co. KY about 1807.
Also unsure about Nancy's maiden name, I've seen it also as GORE, BARTON, and now this McCorper, which is my belief that its a mis-spelling, because there were McCOLPIN's inter-married with the GORE's. Confusing to say the least!! I also saw on the LDS site that someone submitted an ancestral chart on this branch of Standard's and they have the same maiden name for Nancy, so my guess is that there could very well be something to it.

You can email me directly to share the info that I do have and maybe we can come to some conclusions.

donnap@wi.rr.com

Thanx
Donna

Hi..I am new to all this but, I thought I might give it a try. I am researching my genealogy for a terminal project in order to graduate from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. I have been trying to find information on my Great-great grandfather Oliver Standard. All I know is that he was born in Illinois and after he was orphaned the Cook family took him in. He ended up living in Oregon and Washington, but, I want to see if I can find out some of the information before he got here. I have that he was born March 18, 1835 in Illinois and moved to Oregon in 1850 with the Cook family. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
TriniaB
TriniaB@aol.com
