Hello,

I am researching Pierre Stang, who is the older brother of Napoleon Stang. Their parents are: Louis Stang (1812-1869) and Angelique Lalande (1815-1905) Siblings: Elmire Stang, Philomene Stang, Jean Stang and Baptiste. The family at one time used the name Couvrette and moved from Quebec (St. Placide) to St. Eugene. Unfortunately my search beyond Louis has dried up because he seems to have had no family.
I knew Louis Schliesman and his wife Margaret. Margaret actually was my babysitter in the 1950's. I do have a photo of them with my mother and they were in Cincinnati where they are buried. Please contact me. Louis called "Pappy"was blind and the story as I remember it was that he was blinded while working in a building; I believe they told me a hotel. I knew and remember them very well and was at both funerals which my mother planned. She took care of Margaret after Louis Death and then she really took care of Margaret. I do remember a tatto on his chest which was the only way they could prove he served in the military.
That tattoo was on his chest and was a ship with some numbers. I suppose his military i.d. I would really like to talk to you or anyone even though not related. I can help you with some things and to the person that said they had several photos of Louis and one of him with a dark haired lady I could probably identify them
Roberta in Cincinnati
His wife was Margaret Kyle
and their child was Nellie Geneva but Margaret always called her Geneva

Thank you so much for your information! My great grandfather's last name was "Braziel" which could be very similar to "Breceil" depending on where you place the accent. I am not related to Adam, but possibly reltated to Dora, so this is good to know.
Thank you so much!!!
J

On Familysearch.org I also found where Adam Stang married Dora Breceil on 12/24/1898 in Sacramento and there is also a record of Adam Stang marrying Susan Martin in Sacramento on 12/30/1903- I don't know when he married Celeste. Since he was about 37 when he married Dora, there would be a good chance he was married prior to that. He doesn't seem to appear on the 1880 or 1870 census. Familysearch.org also shows an Adam Stang born in the USSR in 1862 and being maried to somebody named "Maria" in 1891 - this may be a totally different Adam Stang, but it's possible it's the same person.

My great grandfather was adopted by an "Adam Stang" in Sacramento, CA, according to some family history. My great grandfather kept his last name, though. I think his mother was Dora, but I am not 100% sure (I don't have my census print out in front of me). But they did live/work on a farm in Yolo County.
Thanks so much for your quick response! I appreciate it!
Adam Stang, (born approximatly 1861 per census)was living with his wife Dora (born approx 1862) in Yolo County per the 1900 census. In the 1910 census he was with his wife Celeste in Sutter County and in the 1920 census he was with his wife Celeste in Sacramento County.
I'm not sure if they had children. California Death Records show a Edward Charles Stang born in Sacramento County 1/4/1891 and died in Sacramento County 2/9/1978. Due to the lack of the "Stang" surnamein the Sacramento/YoloSutter areas, there would be a good chance this could be the son of Adam.
I couldn't find any death record for either Dora or Celeste Stang.

My Grandmother Frances Aukofer Neuman was orphaned when whe was ten. Her Father Franz Aukofer died in 1888. Her Mother Catherina Aukofer died in 1897. I am tryig to find Catharina's maiden name. I think her parents may have been Anton Stang and Franciska Stang. He died in 1895 and she died in 1889. The Stangs had a daughter, but the spelling was Katarina. She had a brother Georg who died in 1880. They lived in Beaver Dam Wi. and homsteaded in codington County in the dakota territory. I am not sure when they returned to Wi, but I believe it was sometime after Franz Aukofer died. Antons parents were Anton SR and Anna Marie and besides Anton Jr, they had a daughter Katharina. Any one with any information please contact me, thanks

Charles,

I am sorry, I can't help you with your search. I am hoping to contact a descendant to return an item that was in our family Bible that relates to that family. Apparently, my family and the Frank Stangs were great friends for this to remain in a bible from my gg grandfather (b 1848). They lived on Jefferson street in Grand Rapids close to my relatives. If someone contacts me, I will refer them to you.
I looked for connections to that family with my own Zindel/Frank family and haven't found any other than being neighbors, but I don't know the surname of Frank's wife, and that could be a link. I should have been more specific in my previous email.

Karen
Hi Karen,

I hope this note finds you. I have been working on the same Stang family for a while, but only have theories. I believe that "your" Frank Stang was a brother of "my" Theresa Stang who married James Searles and lived in Cleveland Ohio. (She was previously married to L. Wagner, and had 2 children with him in Cincinnati Ohio)

Frank Stang was listed as a boarder with the James Searles family in 1920, and I believe these Stang siblings were children of Michael Stang, a German immigrant who settled in Grand Rapids Michigan. Michael was listed in the early church records of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Rapids. So far, I can't get St. Mary's to answer my email inquiries, but I suspect there should be some useful records there. This is the family in 1860:

1860 United States Federal Census > Michigan > Kent > Walker
Stang, Michael 42 Blacksmith Baden
Rachel 40 Keeps House Baden
Elwin (sp?) 16 Farm Laborer Baden
George 14 Baden
Frank 13 Baden
Clarissa 8 Ohio
Jacob 3 Michigan
Charles 1 Michigan

(This should be the same family in 1870 with the surname misspelled)

1870 Census> Michigan> Kent> 5th ward> Grand Rapids
Stein, Michael 55 Blacksmith Baden
Jane 50 Keeping House Baden
Frank 23 Blacksmith Baden
Theresa 18 Ohio
Jack 13 Michigan
Charles 11 Michigan
(Next Door, the family of son George Stang)
Stein, George 27 Moulder Baden
Caroline 21 Keeping House Pennsylvania
Caroline 2 Michigan
Charles 8/12 Michigan

I’d be quite interested in anything you might have on this family.

Warm Regards,

Charles Baldridge

In the records of the Reformed Church of Germantown, Philadelphia Co., PA, there is a birth/baptism for Adam STANG on 5 Jan 1771, with father Valentine STANG. I don't find Valentine or Adam in the 1790 census. Does anyone know what happened to them? Or who this Valentine STANG is or how he might relate to Philip STANG/STONG (1726-1813) of Philadelphia [now Montgomery] Co., PA?

Hi, I am looking for any info on my dad's parents. He is Rene Henry STANG, born in Montreal Quebec 06 Feb 1936, grew up in Cornwall, Ontario. Married to Darlene Joan Pike of Calgary, Alberta. Not sure on all siblings for dad. I know of Josephine, Jenine and Rita. I think his father is ALBERT STANG or Joseph. But I think Albert. I know that he changed the spelling to STANGE during the time he was in the military and then dropped the e once he was out. He married EMMA QUENVILLE (not sure on that spelling). Sorry I have no dates or cities for them. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks

I have ordered a CD on Geneology, and should have the tree completed for the immediate family in time for the reunion in Colorado next year. Sorry you were not there, but understand completely. I have school class pictures for Clement and Anna Marie taken in 1910- 11, when both were 8 years old. Also a Stang family picture , not currently in the folio. Also have Brother Ed's handwritten notes on the family history, to include where in Russia both sets of grandparents came from, and the names of their parents.

You can call me at 405 577 2012, or E mail: janeway11@juno.com
Love,
Jerry and Pat, Yukon, Ok.

on 31 Oct 1999 you had a reply from a Mimi Stang. In our families there is a Mimi Stang who married a Kratt - both family connections. Mimi Stang Kratt lived in Toledo, Ohio. Anyway you can pass this on to that mimi? We have tracked the Stang family back to Germany.

Im unsre forschung ist Justus Stang als Augustus Stang geschrieben. Kenn nicht warum. Augustus Stang u. Margaret (Herwig) Stang haben Kinder; (1) Jakob *26 May1823 Allmershausen (Allm), +06Jun1883 Allm; (2) Elisabeth *07Mar1828 Allm, +26May1901 Lorain, Ohio (LorOH); (3) John *19Feb1836 Allm, +25Nov1899 LorOH; (4) Adam *15Dec1838 Allm, +16Jul1883 LorOH; u. (5) Voltine *01Feb1843 Allm, +16 Apr1906 LorOH.
