Re: Staple families England prior to 1700.

I have the April 2008 copy of the NE Historical and Genealogical Register. In discussing "the Identity of Phillipa, second wife of Nicholas West of Drayton, Somerset, and grandmother of Joan West White of Lacaster Massachusetts" (by Patricia A. Metsch) there are many of the surname Staple revealed. I am trying to determine how/if they connect to Peter Staple who married Elizabeth Beadle (daughter of Mary Magdeline Bailey who it is said the Scarlet Letter was written). The Staple family discussed in the NE Hist & Gen Register is that of John and Phillipa Hawker Staple of Drayton, Somerset.

Staple come in to mt Family Tree in 1885.Beatrice Abbott,married,William T,Clothier,in 1912,then William Staple 1920 Staple, Come form Frome St Quinten,Dorset,In 1885.

Alfred's father was Nathan Bolton and his mother was Annie Bernard.

I have a Thomas Staple b 1874 England came to US abt 1888 lived in Sewickly, Pa with with Edith (Palmer) Staple b.Sedgley, Staff in England 1875 (she remarried a "Eitel" later) two kids- Wm b. 1877 Pa and Alex b. 1898 Pa..lived in 1900 census with her mother and father- Edward Palmer and Ann Hartshorne Jesson Palmer.

He is listed in a Last Will and Testament for Henry Humphrys proven in 1800. In the Will, it states that Sir John Staple(s) had an infant by the name of William Mardon under his care. Alfred had a few brothers.I think William was one.Their fathers' name was William Nathan.Alfred was married to my Grandmother Dica(dicey Mae)Staple(s).

They were married in Tenn. He had been a Revol. soldier and she was from Maine. They had Freeborn, James, Benj, Elizabeth, William and Owen. She was his second wife. John died in Indiana, her death unknown. In his pension file it said she was almost blind.

My grandmother was nee Beatrice May Staple and came from North Curry. Her parents George and Ann are worshiped and are buried in the churchyard of Curry St Peter and St Paul Church of England. I can remember both of them. They lived in a cottage in a North Curry street called the Pavement.
