I see you edited Mamie C Rogers to Marnie C Rogers. I believe she was my Great Grandma, but I only knew her as Grandma Rogers. If she is one is the same, she would be the mother of my fraternal grandmother, Lisle Ione (Rogers) Striegle. Do you know if we are talking about the same lady?

Thank You!! Your Stapletons are not mine unless DNA proves different. My history is mostly complete back to 1760. Also, it does not appear yours match up with the Russell Co., VA group who intermarried with Crooks, Salyers, Castles, found at: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/g/a/m/Elizabeth-H...

Ref DNA,or other, find me (Art)at: artss344@comcast.net

I think there was some DNA testing done. B___, my contact person, mentioned having DNA testing done. It may have been done on the Fritz side of the family though and not the Stapleton side. I cannot put you in touch with her without asking her permission.

There was a Luanna Lawson in the family. But I don't know about a George Lawson Stapleton.

My information only goes back to Thomas, I don't know if anyone has been able to go any further. I have no idea who Thomas's parents were or if he had any siblings.

Sorry, I will ask B____ if she has any info about a George Lawson Stapleton

Sandra f
Have your Russell Co. VA Stapleton males provided DNA samples for comparison with other Stapleton families? If yes, I would appreciate being informed, so as to compare results with my Georgia Stapletons and several others without DNA matches. Our elder was George Lawson Stapleton, b. 1760, Loudoun Co., VA d. 1832 Georgia. Believe his father was Thomas of Westmoreland Co., VA

To Bonnet. I would love to have a copy of the tombstone picture. I am a descendant. I have lots of info. There were two Thomas Stapletons so maybe that is where you are having difficulty. Thomas Stapleton was married to Luanna Lawson, he was married before Luanna to an unknown woman.

As far as his parents, I don't know.

According to my information, he was born June 28, 1805 in Russell County VA and died Sept 04, 1860 near Glendale Pope County IL.

His son Joseph Stapleton was my GG grandfather. The son of Joseph, Andrew William was my g grandfather.

I have lots of family info.

Michael Stapleton and Mary Summers McEvoy - Kilkenny

Researching Michael Stapleton b. 1831 Kilkenny Ireland (Mother Bridget Whelan or Phelan father Michael Stapleton)m. Mary Summers McEvoy on 18 Jan 1854 or 1855 Kilkenny, Ireland. Arrived Syndey Australia with wife Mary 27 July 1855 on the ship Gloriana (Assisted Immigrant Passage.) Michael died in Sydney on 20 Oct 1856. I think a daughter Ann was born not long after arriving in 1856 and a son Michael Stapleton b 1857 (this Michael is my great grandfather). I'm trying to trace any family of Michael and Mary that maybe still in Ireland or somewhere else in the World.

Michael Joseph Stapleton came to Melbourne Australia 1920 and married Elizabeth Kelly who was born 1900 Cobn Co Cork Ireland.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thomas Stapleton (Steepleton) is my paternal GGGGrandpa. I am descended from his second wife & don't have his first wife's name. I have found information that listed his birthplace as Russell Co. Virginia, but also found that his son Joseph listed his father's birthplace as Tennessee. I have a picture of his tombstone in the Stapleton Cemetery near Glendale, IL, which shows his name as Steepleton. I have reached a deadend searching for his parents.

I know this is a very old thread, but I am the Great Granddaughter of William Andrew (Andy) Stapleton, He was married to Nora Fritch, we spelled it Fritz. They were residing in Pope County, Eddyville Illinois in 1910.

I remember Grandpa Stapleton very well, he was known as Uncle Andy around McClure Illinois where he was living when he passed away.

His daughter Zella was my grandmother.

I remember Uncle Paul and Uncle Ralph very well. Uncle Ralph lived across the street from my parents in McClure Illinois. Zella also lived in McClure Ill for quite some time.

I remember Uncle Hillis.

I do not remember Velma or James.

Dora, I believe was the sister of Nora, not sure, I just know there was an Aunt Dorie, whom I don't remember having met, but my older sister does remember her.

I hope this message is not so old that you don't get my reply. I would love to contact you.

Zella has a very interesting story. Her husband, one Edward M Fuller and her had four children, one of whom was my mother. My mother and father had ten children. So you have a lot of relatives to meet.

Sandra F

I've been looking for Vaney Partin or Mary Cleghorn who may have given birth to Lillian Florence Maynard, 1880, Baxter, Arkansas

I've found this census from 1880, in Baxter, Arkansas (attached), and wondered if it was James William Maynard, Mary Maynard, and baby Lillian Maynard, it has Mary (from Missouri), listed as their mother. The head of household doesn't make sense, but they are living right next door Sam Maynard's three brothers; John W. Maynard, wife Frances, brothers John M Maynard and Benjamin Franklin Maynard.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Denise

Hello
I have a Stapleton in my husband's family. Annie Stapleton married William Byrne around Thurles/Toomevara. Annie had a nephew who became Fr. Michael Stapleton and came to Queensland, Australia. Annie's son Garret Byrne married Bridget Kelly and came to Australia about 1865. Michael Stapleton was still on the electoral roll in 1936 so i would gather hisfather was a bit younger than Annie.

Many thanks Lisa
