Dorothy STARCHER

I found an old photograph of 2 women. The back is labeled "coz (cousin) "Dot STARCHER" and "Clarksburg". I assume it is Dorothy and Clarksburg is in Harrison county, West Virginia. My STARCHERs settled in Carthage, Jasper, MO and Leonardville, Kansas from this part of VA. I do not have a record of Dorothy. I would appreciate any help in knowing who Dot is. I will post this photo with my other old Starcher photos at: http://picasaweb.google.com/Wilburhistory/Starchers?authkey=...#

Starcher Anderson Relatives

Hello!! My name is Angela Anderson. I'm looking for Starcher and Anderson Relatives. My grandmother was Pebble Jean Starcher. My grandfather was Harold Richard Anderson. They lived in Parkersburg/Vienna West Virginia most of thier lives. They had two daughters and two sons: Michell, Michael (my father), Ginny, and Drexel. They also later adopted Edward. Drexel passed away in his early twenties, leaving one son, Drexel August Anderson. They were living in California at the time (during the early '80's). We do not know where the son is now. Michell has one son, Timothy. Ginny has two daughters, Pebble and Tiana, and Michael has two daughters, my sister, Holly and myself. I know that my grandmother Pebble had at least three brothers: Bill, Ed, and Dana Starcher. I know that she had at least three sisters: Geneva, Jan, and Rose. I know that Rose married Paul (?) who was a brother of Pebble's husband, Harold and they moved to Florida. Both of my grandparents have passed away. Geneva and Jan have both passed away also. I do not know anything about my Anderson relatives. My Dad tells stories of his childhood and spending time on a family farm with grandparents. I do not know if these are Starcher or Anderson grandparents. If anyone has any info, I would appreciate some.

There is no meaning to Starcher. The original name is Statzer and over the years the name ended up with the spelling of Starcher as more learned to read and write.

If you haven't found the Hacker's Creek web site yet let me know and I will email it to you. You will be able to trace many members of the family with the information they have.
Dave

I wish I could answer your question. I just
received many records from a researcher I had
doing work in Wood Co. WV trying to uncover the
names of my grandfathers' parents. I know his
grandmother's name was Lucinda which is shown
with a daughter, Elizabeth at age 2 in the
1850 Census. Also, find a Lucinda Jenkins in
Monongalia with census doc # only one number
different which would indicate info was given
to census taker on same day for two addresses.
According to two obituaries I have, my grand-
father was reared by two uncles and their wives.
At that point he was living in and around Van
Wert and Ft. Recovery, Ohio. The uncles were
Thomas J. Jenkins and Wirt Jenkins...Tom's
obit listed his father as Stewart and Wirt's
obit listed his father as John. I found later
that John's middle initial was W. for Wesley??
This is a real mystery and I really want to
see if Lucinda in Wood Co. is same person
listed in Monongalia...could be mother, daughter.
Will appreciate any additional insight..Jan
Please e-mail me at mramel@earthlink.net.

I am administrator/co-admin of two websites you Starcher researchers may be interested in. My site, Calhoun, Roane, Braxton and Clay Co WV Tombstones now has over 2000 photos, mostly tombstones; obits, queries, death registration records and a whole lot more. The 2nd site, administrated by my cousin Tammy Burch and myself, is Sampson and Related Families. Presently, most of our info is on our Sampson line but we want to branch out to include families that married into our Sampson lines. These families include Starcher, Kerby/Kirby, Roberts, Cogar, Wayne, Tanner, Mitchell, Nutter, Greathouse....all Calhoun, Clay and Roane Co folk. If you all are interested, please contact me at molli2@myfamily.com for invitations. As private, accessed by invitation only sites, we are free to share as much or as little information as we like. Please come join us at both sites!!

Charlene

John C. Starcher Family of Jackson Co. WV

I am researching the family of John C. Starcher and Charity Lyons, who married in Mason Co. abt.1819. The 1830 and 1840 Jackson Co. census lists 3 sons and 2 daughters. I have only found three of the five children identified: Samuel S. (son), Frances (dau), Mary Ann (dau). I would greatly appreciate any assitance with the names of the other children. I am inclined to believe that my gggg-grandfather, Wilson Starcher who married Susannah Board, is one of the un-named sons. Thank you!

Leavitt Funeral Home
Violet Husk passed away on Sunday November 28, 2004 of a brief illness.

She was born on March 4, 1923 the daughter of Eli Lakery Roberts and Amie (Craddock) Roberts . She was the youngest of eight children. During a childhood illness she lost most of her hearing but still attended and did well in school. After several operations as an adult her hearing was partially restored. One of the high points in her life was when she went to Beauty College and earned a Beautician degree. She loved school and she loved to learn. The year of classes was a precious treat. Violet married Commodore W. Husk January 14, 1944. Commodore passed away on May 14, 1966 of an extended illness. During his illness she took loving homecare of him both night and day. On January 12, 1954 she had a son, David Husk. Through her help and tireless encouragement David completed college and earned a Doctorate in physics. She owned and operated Violet's Beauty Shop in Parkersburg from 1965 through 2001 when she retired. Violet had several serious illnesses during her life but her determination and spirit always prevailed. She was attractive, strong-minded, earnest and good willed. She never turned away the truly needy or looked down on anyone. She provided care for her ill relatives and took care of her aging father. She was a friend to all. During her lifetime she faced and overcome many more tribulations than most people.
Re: My Starcher Line

I believe that Lamar Starcher was actually James Lamar Starcher born in Jackson County, WV on May 5, 1873. He married Margaret Cobb on April 15, 1897 in Jackson County. James Lamar would have been the great uncle of Buddy Starcher. His parents were Lafayette and Sarah Carpenter Queen Starcher. Buddy's line would come through their son Perry Johnson Starcher. His son Homer Dee was the father of Okey Edgar "Buddy" Starcher. I ran across this information researching Buddy Starcher. I was intrigued by your mention of a Lily Maude Starcher. I have a great aunt named Lilly Maude who was born October 22, 1893. Are they the same person?

Hi Brian, just wanted to let you know, grandpa was born in March 1884, good luck in hunting. By the way his name in the 1930 census in Belmont county is incorrectly listed as Leor. Dad and the whole bunch are also listed, some misspellings tho. Sorry for the typing, take care.
Still thinking of you,
larry
