Info needed re: Moses A. Stare

I have come into possession of a token either to or from Moses A. Stare. Handwritten in this item is information linking to Decatur, Macon Co. Illinois and the date October 23, 1860.

I have discovered in research that Moses A. Stare was a CPL (corporal) and that he deserted the 41st Illinois Infantry Regiment Co. A on August 5, 1861.

I would really love to know more about this gentleman, as well as confirm both the handwriting and/or images of this person.

Thank you,
Wendy Hamilton
The booklet I referred to is named WHAT LITTLE INFORMATION I HAVE ON THE STARE FAMILY by F.A.Stare. The booklet contains information from John Jacob Stare and down. He was our first ancestor to the states from
Europe. John Jacob did have two brothers of which noone knows anything about. All three brothers supposedly were in the Penn colonies and then somewhere in Pa. If you have any interest in this info, let me know.

Re: STARE/STARR

Hi Michelle: I live in Greene Cty, OH, where my great-grandfather JACOB was raised. JACOB moved to Jay Cty, IN in 1846 where he lived and raised his children and where he died. I have new info that his grandfather's name was not JOHN, but FREDRICK STARE. FREDRICK died in Greene Cty, OH in 1817, and lists in his will his grandson JACOB SOURMAN, and children JOHN, ABRAHAM, ELIZABETH,
ANN, MARY, and CATY. I presume that since JACOB'S name in the will was SOURMAN that his mother was a STARE. Both his mother and father died in 1816 in VA where JACOB was born in 1813. He was raised by Uncle Abraham who probably changed his name to STAR and then to STARR. There is also anecdotal evidence from family members that the family was German and came from Pensylvania Dutch country, probably York or Lancaster counties. So maybe we do have some common ancesters. If you have any other info on the family in York County, I would be very interested in having it, and also what your g-mothers first name was and when she liveed.

I HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE MY G-GRANDFATHERS NAME MAY HAVE BEEN CHANGED FROM STARE TO STARR. HIS NAME WAS JACOB STARR, BORN IN 1813 IN BERKELEY, CTY, VA(WV). HIS PARENTS ARE UNKNOWN TO ME, BUT HIS GRANDFATHER,JOHN, MARRIED A MARY MILLER IN BERKLEY, CTY, AND BROUGHT THE FAMILY TO GREENE CTY, OHIO IN 1816 AFTER BOTH OF JACOBS'S PARENTS DIED. JACOB HAD AN UNCLE NAMED ABRAHAM WHO RAISED HIM IN GREENE CTY AFTER JOHN PASSED AWAY IN 1829. JACOB SPOKE ONLY GERMAN AS A CHILD AND TOLD PEOPLE HE CAME FROM PENSYLVANNIA DUTCH COUNTRY. IF ANY OF THIS SOUNDS FAMILIER TO ANYONE PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS POST. JERRY STARR
