Sorry about not listing the cemetery - The F.M. Stark and daughters stones are in Lawn Hill Cemetery - Stanhope, Hamilton County, Iowa. It is a country cemetery about 2 miles East and a mile South of Stanhope. Lieucettas inscription is actually on the back side of F.M. & M.J.'s stone - different! James.

In 1855, when my Grandmother Branch was only eight years old she came to Iowa with her parents. They came from Illinois in a covered wagon. They did not
like Iowa so in about a week they started back to Illinois. On the way back they had to cross the Mississippi River.
There were no bridges so they were taken across in boats. Grandmother and some other children were walking some planks when all of a sudden Grandmother fell into the river. She sank to the bottom twice and came up with
her hands full of sand. Her dress was floating on top and her uncle grabbed it and saved her from being drowned.
Later my Grandmother was married to Nelson Branch. They lived in Illinois a while and when my aunt, Nora (Rev.G.H. Dick) was three (3) months old they started back to Iowa in a covered wagon. They reached Iowa after many days of
traveling and settled on a farm near Stanhope. Here they reared six children five of which are living. In 1890 my
Grandfather Branch died when my father, James Nelson Branch was only six years old.

If you look on that census you will see William W. Jones is also living with them - William ends up marrying Victoria Matilda Dever (a cousin to Mary Viola Stark) . I think there was probably some small talk and the enumerator made an error. As you will notice in 1910 William H. has only been married once,and I find that marriage on the statewide index. It doesn't take much census research to notice how occasionally they are inaccurate - a constant frustration to our generation. Minga
