I am new at this but looking through I find that my mother was married to a "Start". She was born in 1909 but was living with her mother. She was 21 at the time she was living with her. I remember my mother, Agnes Clements-Starts-Romjue, telling us that we had a brother that died as a very young infant. His name was Bruce. This must must be part of your family. My mother lived in Washington, D.C.

Hi Bill!

I am not a descendant of the Starts family, but my husband's maternal grandmother, Eliza Jane Glenn's first marriage was to Pryor Starts of Coshocton Co., OH. They had 3 children, 2 boys and a girl. He died and she married Shelton Green and had my later mother-in-law and 4 more girls.

What I am trying to find is the cause of death of Pryor Starts. One of my S-I-Ls says she remembers their mother telling her that the was murdered, so I was wondering if you had researched that family any and know anything about this murder or how I might find more info on it.

Do you know of any Jacob Starts? I don't have any dates on him but he had a daughter Catherine on Oct.24,1844 with his wife Lucinda MacFarland. I was told that Jacob served in the Civil War and that his fathers name is Daniel(again no dates) who served in a Mexican War. Don't know Jacobs mothers name.
Catherine would be my great great grandmother who married William Penrod and had a daughter Emma on Nov 17,1866.

I am looking for anyone researching the Starts name. The 1900 census says that Lewis was born in Ohio in 1829 and list his parents as being born in Deleware. Lewis Starts married Ruia Marlott and they had eleven children. The 1900 census also says 11 children born to Ruia with only 8 living so I don't know if that means they died in childhood or birth. If there are other Starts researchers out there, I would love to hear from you!

Don't know if you check here often, Larry, but I have been doing Start research for about 15 years. I believe all I have on Lewis is what you have but e-mail me anyways!
