Re: Dean Steach Wolf Creek

Dean Steach was the son of Joseph Addison Steach and Isadora Bringham Steach. Neither parent is of Indian descent. Dean Steach was born on 27 November 1889 in Grant County Oregon. He died in 1921 in Lane County Oregon. No further details about his passing are available. There is no proof of any children other than Florence and Delmer. There is no proof to substantiate statement that his great grandmother (Martha Jane Neeley Steach) ever remarried after her husband passed away. The family has never heard of this rumor.

Steach/Stech/Steck Genealogy & DNA Project

STECH descendants from several different families have banded together to start the Stech/Steck/Steach Genealogy & DNA Project. The main purpose of the project is to confirm whether or not the various STECH, STECK, STEACH, STAKE, or STACH families with ties to Lancaster, Franklin and Westmoreland counties in Pennsylvania, to New York, Maryland, and other states, and to various localities in Baden, Germany, are actually related to each other. There may additional spelling variations of the surname not yet revealed. All men claiming descent in the paternal line are invited to participate in the DNA project.

In addition, we are attempting to build a genealogy database for future reference in STECH/STECK/etc research. ALL persons with an interest in STECH, STECK, STEACH, STAKE, or STACH genealogy are invited to participate in that part of the project.

If you are interested in participating in either part of this project, please contact the undersigned for additional information.

Ginni Morgan
purpledragon1 (at) earthlink (dot) net

Dean Steach Wolf Creek

Our great-grandfather was Dean Steach. He married Irma Blanche Warthen around 1910 and had two children, Florence Jane and Delmar, on a farm in wolf Creek Oregon. Apparently he was half Cherokee Indian, ?His mother? he may have had illegitimate children. They say the townspeople "did him in", he went hunting with a friend one day and never came back. My great-grandmother remarried to a F Holland, but they had no children. If you have any related information, please contact us, at 9 Kitching St Chapel Hill Brisbane Australia 4069

Hi, I'm a Steach! My father has actually been more into this genealogy stuff than me, but I thought I'd at least post something here. We live in the San Francisco North Bay Area and most of our extended family (aunts, uncles, etc.) have remained close to the Peninsula. My granparents, both deceased now, were Francis Steach and Leslie Lord Steach. My father sometimes speaks of cousins they had when they were younger in the Portland area. Norman, are you my cousin? We also had family from Missoula, Montana.
