One of William's sons is Henry Clay Stedham who married Susan Strother. One of their kids, Geneva, my G-Aunt, married Rev. Samuel S. Akers who pastored a church from 1950-1971 just outside of San Antonio - Kerrville, TX.

Henry Clay died in San Antonio in 1930. Does anyone have any information about when & why Henry moved there or of Sam & Geneva moving there before 1950?

Thanks,

Larry

When I clicked on Henry Hignite, it only showed that they had 3 children...Bob, William, and
Sid. However, they had 2 others that are not listed and one of them was my grandfather, Thomas. The other child was Millie. Who can I contact to update this information?
Nancy Hignite-Fleck

8th National Stidham* Family Reunion, June 22-24, 2007

The 8th National Stidham* Reunion will be held June 22-24, 2007 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee (near Gatlinburg), in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. If you are a descendant of a family with a surname spelled anything like Stidham, Steadham, Steddom, Stidam, Stidom, Stidem, Stedham, Stidhams, Stittums, etc., then you are no doubt a Stidham* cousin, and this reunion is for you. There will be a bus tour of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, time to take in the fun and entertainment of Pigeon Forge, and plenty of opportunity to meet new cousins, and renew acquaintances with old friends and family. You will also get a chance to meet the historian and author, Jack Stidham. Jack will be on hand to chat and autograph his books, The Descendants of Dr. Timothy Stidham.

For more information and to print a registration form, go to http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~stiddem/reunion/2007reunion.h...
I am looking for information on family of Lee Stidham. He is the son of Franklin Steadham and Pearl Baker. Pearl is the daughter of Amos Baker of Bienville Parish, LA. In 1910, Franklin and Pearly were in Bienville Parish, LA with children Martha, Lizzie, Daisy, L.C., and Lee. In 1920 Pearly was married to Thomas McCarley and living in Fort Worth, TX with her children Lee and Berta Stidham. What happened to the older children and husband Franklin? Lee Stedham is listed in Texas Death index in Tyler, Smith Co., TX. Is this the same family?

Vol Two of "The Descendants of Dr. Timothy Stidham" is Available

"The Descendants of Dr. Timothy Stidham," Volume 2, 2005, by Jack Stidham and David R. Stidham. (Hardbound, 579 pages with complete-name index)

Volume 2 picks up where Volume 1 left off, and includes the ninth generation of Stidhams* in America. By the ninth generation, Stidhams* and their allied families had spread over most of the United States, from Florida to Alaska and in nearly every state or territory in between. Volume 2 is rich with photographs, containing 323 pages of individual and family photographs. ($50 includes S&H)

Also still available, "The Descendants of Dr. Timothy Stidham," Volume 1, 2001, by Jack Stidham. He made several voyages back and forth between Sweden and "New Sweden", finally settling permanently in 1654 in present-day Wilmington, Delaware. We can trace nearly every Stidham* in America today to one of his five sons. Volume 1 also includes the first eight generations of Timen's descendants in America, plus one generation of his parent's family back in Sweden, making that nine generations in all. ($45 includes S&H)

Both volumes are hardbound in blue leatherette and embossed in gold with Dr. Stiddem’s Wilmington house on the front cover.

Five dollars of each book sold will be donated to the Timen Stiddem Society.

To obtain copies of Volume 1 and/or Volume 2, contact:
David R.

I found this which may or may not be helpful.

STEADHAM, BENJAMIN, -Creek Trader was trading at Pallachocola, 6 miles southwest of Chehaw in 1772. In 1797 he was described by the Indian agent Hawkins as being "industrious and honest, a half breed, with two daughters who live well". Benjamin was granted land at Tensas in 1797. The 1810 Alabama census shows two Benjamin Steadhams in Baldwin County. One Benjamin Steadham married ELIZABETH WELCHin Baldwin Co.on Nov 17, 1815. He made a will there on November 28, 1828, proved on July 13, 1829, leavng his wife, ELIZABETH, and children named MARY JANE, JOHN EDWARD, HANNAH ELIZABETH, BENJAMIN THOMAS, WILLIAM HENRY, and ARA ADNA AMELIA.

Source of info: WHO WAS WHO AMONG THE SOUTHERN INDIANS 1698 - 1907 pages 610, 611

Re: Goldie Steadham

I don't have any info on Goldie, however, being adopted, I came across "Vivian Lyons" in your message. a woman by that name is my birth mother. I was born at Misrecordia Hospital in Chicago, IL, 09-22-47. That's not too far from Missouri for a 19 year old Catholic woman with no husband listed on records. It's a real stretch, but perhaps this information is helpful. She was/is Irish, French and German descent and would be 74 today.

He had at least one child with her(a daugher, Edner J. born Mar. 1900), and according to stories I have heard, but cannot confirm, there were others.

I'm wondering whether various sound-alike spellings of Steadman/Stadtman/Stittman/Stuttman are related.

I just found online a record of my ggm's birth in 1882 in Tarnapol, Galicia, Ukraine. Her name was shown as Rifke Stadtman, mother Ruchel Lea Stadtman.

She married Moshe Einbinder and had 3 daughters before emigrating to the U.S. via Germany in 1910. They lived in Baltimore and Philadelphia before settling in Washington DC.

After emigration, she and her siblings who also emigrated spelled it Stuttman.

Hoping to hear from anyone with related ancestors.

Kathy
