Relatives?

I am the daugter of James Everret Stealey son of Oliver Stealey, Lenna Stull of Tyler Co. My father was raised on what I believe was Stealey property in Middlebourn WV now owned by the State Game Dept. I remember having to get there by road or swinging bridge depending on the weather by a small store called the Jug. Any relation? Still living in the area are my Aunt Bernadine Stull, Uncle Gail Stull, Cousin Billy Stull.

Lorrie Stealey Miller

Trying to trace any photos or mementoes there may be of my late sister Emily Stealey(previous married name Greer/maiden name Young. Emily was married to Robert Carl Stealey in England/UK on 27 December 1963. Bob(Robert Carl) Stealey died 07 April 1981 and Emily died 01 August 1997. Bob's date of birth is 30 December 1922 and Emily's 14 June 1934. They lived in Baytown, Harris, Texas. Bob was from West Virginia and Emily from Salford, Lancashire, England UK. Bob was a Merchant Seaman. Bob's father was James Walter Stealey who is listed as a retired carpenter on Emily and Bob's marriage certificate. Bob and Emily had no children, but it would be lovely if we could find any living relatives of Bob's just for family history records.

She was around 16-17 at the time of the marriage.

My father was in the military at the time.

I believe they would have married in West Virginia, Kentucky or Virginia??

I don't believe they had any children together.

I have only one photo of her.
Ship list about 1730 with Ancestors

Jacob or John Stealey arrived in Philadelphia about 1730 we think. I can't find the ship they came on . I'm am told that the name would have anglicized and was probaby different than what we know it today. I found them on tax list in Lancastor County, Pa. 1772 and with a different spelling in 1753 possibly. They left about 1787 to go to Morganstown, Va, (WVA) . I would appreciate any help in locating a ship list of their arrival in America. The Stealy's settled in Middlebourne, W Va.. Thanks, Donna and Paul

GREAT GRANDFATHER GEORGE M. STEALEY

I have a little more info. on my great grandfather George M. He had a brother John O. Stealey predeceased who lived in Jeffersonville, Ind. John O's son, Oralnando Stealey, was a nephew of my g grandfather and living in Jeffersonville and a correspondent for the Louisville Courier Journal. My g grandfather is buried in Louisville in Cave Hill Cemetery next to a women Sarah B. Boone and her grave marker said she was his wife. The cemetery has her as Sarah B. Stealey. He is listed in the 1860 census in Memphis TN as living with a Sarah. Sarah died in 1861 and my g granddad died in 1881 in St. Louis MO and the 1880 census in St. Louis listed his wife Mary S. (nee ?) and there were four children one being my granddad George M. Stealey who died in 1932. There was a John Stealey (brother of Jacob Stealey and both settled in W. Virginia) who married Prudence Cozad. This John Stealey left Morgantown WV and settled in Jeffersonville IN where he died. This John Stealey had four daughters. Did he have any sons and was one named John? The father of my g granddad would have had to have at least two male children named John and George.

I have seen the pedigree for George M. Stealey on Ancestry.com where George M. Stealey was born about 1874.

My g.grandfather George M. Stealey was born Apr. 25, 1813. I know this by the Mo. 1880 census and by the obituary in the St. Louis Post Disp. showing he died Apr. 26 1881. The death notice agrees w/obituary. The 1880 Mo. Census shows him coming from either Virginia or W.V. I do not know who his parents are. If anyone has any info. on this Geo. M. Stealey, please post.or e-mail at gstealey@aol.com.

He operated a saloon in St. Louis from 1865 till death in St. Louis.
