Alexander married ELSPETH McLEAN b: Feb.3,1854, Dunfermline and d: 1924. They were married Feb.
19,1875.
Their children were:
James b: Mar.22,1875 Dunfermline Scotland d: Jan.14,1943 Toronto,Ontario.Canada.
Margaret b: 1878
Agnes b: 1880
Elsie b: 1884

Again James is my family line. Are you related to any of his sisters.

James married JANE MORGAN STEEDMAN b: Feb.23, 1877 Dunfermline. d: Jan. 3,1947
Toronto,Ontario.Canada.
The were married Dec.30,1897 in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. The travelled back and forth to Canada a few
times but remained here about 1913. They had six children either born in Scotland or Canada.

A native of Tulsa, OK, she moved here from Shady Cove, OR, eight years ago. She was a Protestant.

Hi,

I am researching the descendants of Robert STEEDMAN b1726 and his wife Rachel WILLIAMSON b1726 both at Portmoak, Kinross.

So far I have only found 3 children to them:-

1. Michael b1758 who married Elizabeth AITKEN who had at least 6 children in Portmoak, one grandson, Michael Leven STEEDMAN married Janet CHALMERS and moved to Kirkcaldy.

2. Hellen b1761 whom I believe married Andrew YOUNG in 1792 and had at least 3 children

3. Janet b1765 who married David MORRISON and had 8 children in Strathmiglo, Fife.

I hope someone out there can find a link to this family.

I have just downloaded a death details for a Euphemia MARTIN nee STEEDMAN (1789-1875)

1875 death cert. records:
Euphemia MARTIN, wid. James MARTIN (agricultural labourer), age 86. Father unkown STEEDMAN, town's officer (Kinross). Mother not recorded. CoD paralysis. Sign. Thomas MARTIN, eldest son, 3 Lappiedub, Forfar.

Would there be any way of finding out who this town's officer was?

Who was Newton STEEDMAN, d. 1967 in AL?

I found a Newton STEEDMAN in the Social Security Death Index. He was born 27 Oct 1883 and died March 1967. His last known residence was in Birmingham, Alabama. I was looking for a Corbit Steedman, who was born about 1883. He was the son of Newton Ward Steedman. I think it is possible that Corbit was actually Newton Corbit Steedman. I found Newton C. in the 1930 census and he was born in Texas, as was Corbit. My question is this. Does anyone know the names of Newton C.'s parents? Or does anyone know what day in March of 1967 that he died? I was going to get his obituary, but I can't do that without a complete date of death.

A number of the families are to be found living in Edinburgh the 1881 census.There may also be a Trotter family connection somewhere

Back in February I made an appeal on this board for males bearing the Steedman surname to participate in the Stidham Family DNA Study. As of yet, no takers.

I have a theory that a great many people with the surname Stidham are in reality, descendants of the Scottish immigrant John Steedman, not Timen Stiddem (Stidham) as they've been led to believe.

William was born on 14th July 1873 in Dumbarton Scotland. I dont know the names of his parents, all I know so far is that he had an uncle Thomas and wife Mary who lived in Fruix cottage in Kinross. Tom had a brother Laurence steedman,
he was unmarried but had two sisters-Elizabeth and Helen Elspit Steedman.Any information would be a help.

He was a C/P Officer in the Royal Navy ( shipwright ) I do not have any more than that only that he married in Portsmouth to Daisy Dallas and had five children, Eva, Mary, Daisy, Hazel who died age 18mths and Lorrance.There was an uncle Thomas( wife Mary ) that lived in Kinross, Fruix Farm or the Fauld, he had a sister Catherine( kate) that went to Vancover to live.

Further to my earlier message, I now know that Alice Selina (my Grandmother) married my Grandfather Richard Ernest Boorman on 21st. December 1904 at West Green Church Edmonton. They were both residing at 182 Harringay Road, Tottenham at that time. The father of Alice was William Steedman and at the time of the marriage he was deseased. He was a Piano Make.
Has anyone any more information on William.

Alice Selina Steedman was my G-mother. She was married to Richard Ernest Boorman probably about 1910 ans lived in Harringay Road, Tottenham, North London England.
Apparently her father was a partner in a firm of piano manufacturers Steedman Phillips. Anyone out there with any other info please.
