My Steep/es' nded up in Australia 1880. Originally from County Limerick Ireland since 1709, prior to that from Palatine Germany. Am trying to eliminate the relatives who went elsewhere. Where were your Steeps' from? and who were they? Regards, Margaret Guppy/neeSteepe

Margaret,

The Steep connection I have is through the our Black family. Ida May Steep married Samuel Black McCormick. Samuel is a 2nd cousin to me so to speak. Ida's father is stated to be William and that they are out of Washington Co PA. So far I have had no luck pinning them down. Sorry I can not be of more help.

Nancy

If you are interested in the history of the Palatines I would suggest that
you try to obtain a copy of the book written by Patrick J. O'Connor,
entitled "People Make Places - the Story of the Irish Palatines". I don't
know whether the bookshops in Victoria would stock it, but I purchased mine
from the Library of Australian History (P.O. Box 795, North Sydney, N.S.W.,
2059) - perhaps they could send a copy to you.
My maiden name was Steepe, Great grandparents, William Steepe and Elizabeth Steep, came to Australia from Ireland c. 1880. This is all the info I have on these ancestors, more would be appreciated.
