Steidel in Germany... Witzenhausen, Werra-Meissner-Kreis, Hessen, Germany

My Mother Brigitta Auguste Steidel is directly from Witzenhausen she came through N.Y. in 1948. Her Father was Wilhelm Daniel Johann Steidel b.5 July 1912 Witzenhausen, Werra-Meissner-Kreis, Hessen, Germany and d. 7 May 1939 in Gottingen, Niedersachsen, Germany. He died during the war and my Grandmother Herta Anna Minna Kuhlborn was "ORPHANED" have no info at all on her family later married an American Soldier. Wilhelm's father was Johannes Steidel "a shoe cobbler" resided in Witzenhausen with his wife Berta Hamm..Berta owned a market in town. This is in the HESSEN region. Anyone who could give me some researching assistance would be welcome.. I do know little German, but have great resources for that..

Looking for any information on this couple. They had a daughter Maria Magdalena born Jan 11 1786 in Linn Twp, Northampton Co, PA. Maria married Moses Utley in 1812. I believe they may have lived in Perry Co, PA, but I'm not sure if they were originally from that location. Any information would be appreciated.

I'm so glad to have found this message. I'm just beginning to search my steidle heratige. My mom was a Steidle. Her father was Daniel Lewis Steidle, whose father was Walter Steidle from Ohio! Thats about all the info my mom had from her baby book. If you have any fruther info...could you please share?

Grasch. their first child Bertha was b. there.
George was b. in Wiesloch Germany. there were a
lot on Steidel's there. I don't know about Anthony
I searched an L.D.S. film of Wiesloch to get the info.

My mother's maiden name is Steidel. She is the daughter of Anthony "Jacob" Steidel and Sophie Kraft Steidel. Anthony j. Steidel was the son of Jacob Steidel and Elise Kruger. Also a William, Gerdie and Minnie. Also from Germany. My greatgrandmother said she swam in the Rhine river. Are our family connected? No dates on the death of Jacob Steidel, just died in New York City.
