My grandfather was Emil Frederick Steinert B:11 Jul 1886 in Germany. He had siblings: Gusty, William, Minnie, & Anna. Emil married Emma Wilke & they lived in Wauwautosa, WI. There may be more siblings. Emil's parents may have been Charles? & Wilhelmine Schultz Steinert. Any information on possible relatives either past or present would be appreciated. My dad was Arthur Roland Steinert, & had 3 brothers: Carl, Earl, & Allen. Thanks for any help you can offer. Mary Steinert Mathieus

Please contact me if you have information about Katharine Elisabeth Reisig(April 15 1884) who married George Jacob Steinert (b 1882) and their one child (my 102 year old grandmother) Mary Steinert born 1907. They came to Bay City, Michigan in 1912 from Tscherbakovka, Russia.

Alice J. (Steinert) Kersey, 84, of Riverside, California and former resident of Russell, Kansas passed away on December 4, 2008. Alice was born in Barton County, Kansas on October 11, 1924 to Fred F. S. Steinert and Katie Strecker.
She graduated from Russell High School in 1942. She moved to Riverside, California in 1963. She worked as an assistant manager at March Air Force Base Golf Course in Riverside, California for over thirty years. When she retired, she loved to travel to see her children, grandchildren, her surviving sister, nieces and nephews. Special to her was a drive to Kansas for her yearly family reunion. She took her grandchildren on many of her cross the country trips. She was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Los Angeles Lakers. In her younger years she enjoyed playing golf, loved to entertain, especially having lots of fun playing cards with her sisters, brother-in-laws and other family members. She loved to cook and share her great creations with others. Throughout her life she always had a positive attitude and always had a pretty smile. It is in this spirit that the family wishes everyone who knew her to smile when they think of her rather than endure sadness, and to celebrate her life, rather than mourn it. Alice would not have wanted it any other way.
Alice is survived by her Husband, Myles, her daughters, her grandchildren, her sister, Florence Metheny of Russell, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters: Alma Heckman, Alvina Hertel, and Lydia Bennett.
A celebration of Alice’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the St. John Lutheran Church of Russell. Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Friday, December 12, 2008 at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell. Family will be present from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday evening December 12th. Memorials may be given to the St. John Lutheran Church of Russell and may be sent to the mortuary at 610 N. Maple * Russell, KS 67665. Condolences may be sent via email by going to www.pvpmortuary.com. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

George S. Steinert (B: 1874 Russia, D: 1966 Oklahoma) was my great-grandfather. I have a lot of information on his first (my great-grandmother) and second wife and all 13 of his children. If you are still interested, I will post more information.

I am trying to find out the parents of Charles Aldebert Steinert. He was born 13 Mar 1840 in Swazburg Germany, and died 20 Jul 1905. He was married to Barbara Belle Sterwart. They had two children, Anna Laura Steinert (1900-1985) and Charles Clyde Steinert (1886-1937). Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I'm researching and extendedly connected to a Steinert and Herdt family. They migrated from/through WI to North Dakota in the early 1900. Although not co-located with your KS family, some family members could have gone to Kansas. It's a long shot but with two surnames being the same, I have to ask. The Herdt family was from the West Bend (Washington County) area of WI. The Steinert's possibly from IL as well as WI.

My great grand mother on my fathers side(Krantz), was Christiane Berta(Bertha) Reisig who was born in 1849 in Saxon Germany and died in 1931 at German Protestant Cemetery in Mahanoy City................she had a brother named Fred Reisig I believe who was born in 1842,,,,,,,,,,are any of these relatives possibly related to the Reisig's that you are related to???.................Wayne H. Funeral from his late residence on Friday, Aug. 31, at 1 P. M. Friends and relatives of the family also General Committee of Tammany Hall, 24th Assembly District, Congregation Adas Israel, and Minerva Ladies’ Society are respectfully invited to attend.

Heiman Steinert, for more than fifty years a resident of the old Nineteenth Ward, died at his home, 241 East Fifty-third Street, yesterday of Bright’s disease, in the eighty-second year of his age. Mr. Steinert, who was born near Berlin, Germany, came to this country in 1840. He studied law in the office of the late Judge Albert Cardoza, and was for many years a practitioner at the New York bar. Mr. Steinert had been a member of Tammany Hall for nearly fifty years, and had always taken an active interest in all affairs pertaining to that organization.

He is survived by three sons and a daughter, one of his sons being Assistant Corporation Counsel Henry Steinert. He will be buried tomorrow at 1 o’clock, the interment being in Bay Side Cemetery.

I came across a biographical essay on Morris Steinert b. 9 Mar 1831 in Scheinfeld, Bavaria. I found the essay through my county library's online database called Biography Resource Center. This is the citation for the essay: "Morris Steinert."Dictionary of American Biography Base Set. American Council of Learned Societies, 1928-1936.
Reproduced in Biography Resource Center. Farmington Hills, Mich.: Thomson Gale. 2006.

Morris was a collector of musical instruments. He founded the M. Steinert & Sons Company, which sold pianos. He lived in New Haven, CT, and died 21 Jun 1912. He married Caroline Dreyfuss 7 Jan 1857. They had nine children.

I was researching a different group of Steinerts from NYC when I came across the "piano" Steinerts on Google. If you haven't done so, search for "Steinert piano" (without the quotation marks) on Google. Hopefully, that will lead you to more information.

My wife is a a direct descendent of the Steinert's & Herdt's of Russell, Kansas. I have decendents information down from Sigmond and would be willing to send that information to you. Hopefully you can fill in a few gaps that I have as well. There were approximately 50 Steinerts that moved to Russell all at once in the 1880's and I would like to get any information on them as possible. Thanks............

I got a message from you about 18 months ago and I'm following up because I don't remember what we determined.
My great grandparents and my grandmother (George Steinert, Katherine Reisig Steinert and Mary Steinert) came to MI through Ellis Island in April of 1912. We have connections to the Winter family through Leonhard Winter and his wife, Eva Elisabeth Steinert Winter and many names on the Reisig/Steinert/Winter charts from AHSGR are familiar
to my 98 year old grandmother. I am willing to share what little I know, if this sounds like a connection. My grandmother knows that our relatives went many different ways and we really didn't keep in touch. (Bay City, MI was her home for 85 years and now she lives here in NM with us.)

I have not had contact with Art or Nellie for many years untill this year.I do not know anything about cause of death.What I have sent you is all the information I have. If you want to persue that area you could contact the Salvation Army in Winnipeg. I am told they have a division that does that sort of thing. Cant give you any numbers or address to contact.

I am a brother in law married to nellies sister Jennie. We visited Nellie, there is no phone or is unlisted. I do not believe she has much of any thing left from the past, she is being taken care of by the Social Services of Winnipeg. From our visit I found her long term memory was not good. I douet if she would answer letters. but you could try. Hope this is some help to you.

ty for responding..i found out about art last yr that he had passed and is buried in winnepeg.are u related to nellie? i know she is old and might not be able to write back but i needed to know if she had gotten the letter we had sent? Also if she cant write can she speak on the phone because my mother would love to speak to her ..my mother is also not too well and would like to talk to her and see if she could just send some pics of art before he had passed. thank you

i just found the name of the cemetery where art is burried..its Brookside Cemetery and the phone is 204-986-4348 i think that is where they told me nellys address but they couldnt give me a phone number..i called alot of places that day but im pretty sure thats where you can get her address just tell them your a family member looking to reach her...but i will keep searching..let me know how it turns out......lisa

I have found out that my great great grandfather came over from germany and settled in ny. his brother that was with him got lost and ended in minnesota. that is where I am. Looking for information on family of Jonathan Stannert. His name is alternately spelled Stanart, Steiner, and perhaps other spellings. According to information I have, he came from Conshohocken, Montgomery Co., PA and moved to Chillisquaque Twp., Northumberland Co., PA in 1829/30 and lived Sodom. He retired to Lewisburg, Union Co., PA, sometime between 1850-1860. I believe he died 3/4/1863. Supposedly the son of Jonathan, Sr.

Your Natalie was born , Natalie Bauer, born 1/15/1901 in Morgenthau,Russia and died 2/29/1976 in Hoisington,Kansas, she was married to John Georg Steinert, born 11/2/1897, in Russell county Kansas and die 10/19/1990 in Hoisington Kansas, they were married 12/2/1919 in Milberger, Kansas. they had 5 children, one of which was Leon L Steinert born 6/28/1920, I find one child listed as, Leon L Steinert, Jr born 1/6/1955. Hi Mary: I do have inform. on a Conrad, b. 01-08-1842 d. 06-10-1915, m. to Katherine Barbara Rusch b. 06-14-1844. They had sons, Fred, Jonathan. They had daughters, Katherine m. a Stoll, Sonna m. a Becker, Mary m. a Keil, Eva m. Michaelis, Mollie m. Eurich. Eva was born between 1875 and 1888. Katherine Barbara died in Russell Kansas and her husband Fairview township. ?? Bob
