Old Photo of Hannah Sieburg Steinhauer - Illinois

I recently purchased a bunch of old photos. One of the photos shows five older family members. The photo is labeled on the back "Lena Lussman, Louisa Meyer, Hannah Steinhauer, (Barlaro [looks like spelling]), Wilhelm Sieburg, Fred Sieburg - Sieburg family". The photo was taken at a photo studio in Illinois, likely around 1900-1910.

Attached is a copy of the photo. If this is one of your ancestors, please contact me.

Frustrated

I've been tryin to trace my Steinhauer ancesters back to Germany for several years. My 2nd Great Grandfather John Steinhauer was born in Germany in 1844 and died in Wilkesbarre, Pa. His father, according to John's death certficate was Joseph Steinhour (different spelling) and he was born in France. I recently had DNA testing done by my father and my nearest match is 17 generations ago (sigh). So, I would encourage any Steinhauer males that can afford it to please get DNA testing. Would love to link up this line! If by chance you have these two Steinhauers in your tree please contact me!

I'm afraid I don't have anything earlier than Albert's parents. All I have is his dad was Martin Steinhauer: born in 1869 in Germany: his mom's name was Mary. After that, it's a brick wall. I do know my grandma, Ruth, was 9 when Irene died.

It is nice to find a cousin at long last from this side of the family. I'd like to talk to you: maybe we can iron out some unreconciled differences. My Yahoo address is still good.

Hi Shirley:

I have not looked at the Kassel/Cassel records for Steinhauer's but the ones I am working on were from there. They moved from there to what is called the Swedish Colonies in Russia. I forget off hand but it was either 3 or 4 Steinhauer families from Kassel moved to the Swedish Colonies. This was in about the 1850's or 1860's.

So somewhere your line of Steinhauer's will fit in with the ones I have.

I am wondering do you know who Heinrich's (Henry's) parents were??? Because I think I would be able to figure things out with that bit of info.

If we can figure things out Shirely you are welcome to all my Steinhauer records.

I had all my Steinhauer records typed into a file but when I bought a new computer I was not able to open it. So I would have to type it all up again. But not a big deal it would take me about 2-3 weeks to type it all up again. The reason it would take that long is that I would have to go through all my notes agian to find them.

I take it that you don't have Henry's passinger shiplist??? I might be able to help with that also.

You may want to email me directly rather than on this list.
My email address is <brian.schatz@sasktel.net>

Well take care.

Brian

Hi Shirley:

Any ideas where Henry and Caroline Steinhauer lived in Russia??? Any idea when they came to Canada??? Did they live around Young, SK or Holdfast, SK at one time or another???

A 1910 census??? I think it should be 1911 then before that in Western Canada in 1906. That is if we are talking Canada.

I have lots of Steinhauer info and I just maybe of lots of help to you. I am not related to Steinhauer's directly. But I did the research mainly to see if my great grandparents Georg Schatz and Regine Schumacher knew them before they came to Canada. I would say they did now. I also had one Steinhauer that married into one of the families I am related to also.

Hope this does not confuse you.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Take care.

Brian

They settled in Hastings, MN and twins, John and Margaret were born in February 1866. Would love to hear from anyone having information on this family.

Am researching my family of STEINHAUERS from Chicago. Henry William STEINHAUER from Hesse, Germany born 1847; married Margarata ENGLE had ten children: Anna Marie, Katharine, Emma, William Adam, John Caspar, Margarata, George, Henry Ernest, Edward Conrad (my grandfather born 10 Aug 1887), Louise. Supposedly the first five children were born in Germany, the last five born in Chicago. Any info regarding any members of this family? Have some spouse names of these children including METZGER, KRUG, CHAP, ZEMANN, SMITH, MERRITT.

Steinhauer

My grandfather was Emile Steinhauer, born in Baden,Baden,
Germany in 1899, immigrated to America when he was 14. He came over
with Catholic priests.
We think his mother's name was Mary Grammer and he had a sister named
Elizabeth. He named a son John and one Paul.
Where is Hlebrow, Wougrowith, Poznan? I couldn't find it on a map. Baden,
Baden was near the Black Forest according to my grandfather.
Any chance there might be a connection?

Emil (Emile) Steinhauer

My grandfather also came from near the Black Forest
in Germany. He came over around 1914 and left behind a
mother named either Mary or Elizabeth and a sister named
Elizabeth. He named a son John and a grandson Henry.
Could he be a relative of your great grandfather?
