Thank you for this Carol--as you say--now born in the right place! However--another error here--Tom Stenson was born in Ratby Leics!!

Sadly--the family Bible belonged to the other side of the family--no connection with mine at all

However, I have brought home a lot of photos and personal papers so there could be something helpful there. Will let you know if there is anything to help but it may take some time

yes--this is my great grandmother. No--Blumdon doesn't exist! She was recorded as born in London or Middlesex according to other census returns with 1911 giving Camden Town.

I have the marriage cert for her parents--this took place in C Down. I also have census forms for the family inc her English grandparents & great grandparents back to 1841

I don't think that she will have been registered in her mother's name as her parents marriage took place a few years earlier and there was an older child who died. He was born & died in Leicestershire both before Charlotte was born. Another family member has looked there for Charlotte --as have I, but --so far--no trace on free reg or free bmds etc.

I haven't been able to trace the family actually living in London--after the marriage in Ireland they were in Leicestershire for a while then Liverpool where Charlotte died in 1943.

I have just found out that there is a family Bible and am collecting it tomorrow--not sure how far back it goes but it would be wonderful if her birth was recorded in it. However, I think it will only have started with her & her husband!

We need to follow this family backwards to confirm Charlotte's place of birth and the parents marriage- is it possible she was born and registered under mum's maiden name?

My great grandmother CHARLOTTE STENSON,was, according to census returns, born in London Middlesex in 1864.The 1911 census gave CAMDEN TOWN as her place of birth

Her parents were THOMAS STENSON (painter & decorator) & SARAH JANE MITCHEL.

Thomas was born in Ratby Leics & Sarah in Banbridge C Down
I have been unable to trace a birth registration or a baptismal record for Charlotte. Presumably her birth would have to have been registered in London.

I have been unable to trace the family in London--in 1862 they were in Leicester where their first child was born & died-- by 1871 they were in Liverpool where they settled

Any suggestions/advice/help as to where to look for her birth reg would be appreciated please.

Also--does anybody know of a possible local church where I could look for her baptism please--maybe on OPC

I am unable to help you with the Rhodes information but it does seem to be a name that is connected to my Stinson's. There was a Rhodham Stinson b 1835 Missouri married Mary H. Meeker 1860 Linn county, Kansas.

Oddly,we may be talking about 2 different Stensons. I need to check but I know that Thomas had at least one brother( maybe more) his name was Patrick. Patrick died of influenza, dont know the year or where.

P.S. thomas and Nora were living on bonsall Street, Phila. I have my Beatrice McNulty married to Owen Stenson also living on Bonsall Street; Bea died 1928 w/baby. I'm wondering if they had any children prior to her death. Aslo, there is an Ellie Stenson on a 1904 manifest; listed above her name is my ggrandfather John McNulty. I'm guessing they were traveling together and the Stensons/McNultys are connected somehow from back in Ireland.

Hi. I'm not sure when Tom/Nora were born. I did see their ship manifest once. I'm sure they are related to Owen who married my Ggrandfather's sister, Beatrice McNulty. I'm pretty sure Owen remarried after Bea died. I think I have a WWI? and WWI registrations for Owen with different wives listed, and different towns Do you have any connection?

Louis Stenson`s Line

I am researching my G Grandfather`s brother, Louis Stenson, line. He and my great grandfather, Andrew, immigrated to Wisconsin from Denmark in the 1880s. Louis married Ada Whipple and had three children- Ira, Carrie, and Isobel.

Ira was a WWI veteran and moved with his wife, Minnie, to New Mexico. Am trying to find if Ira and Minnie had any children.

Carrie married a Raymond Baker and moved to California and died in the San Bernadino area. They had four? children one daughter who married a Frank Freeland Stecker.

Isabel (or Isobel) married a McIsaack and lived in the Rhinelander, Wisconsin area. Am trying to find out if she had children.

I am not sure if I have any information on the Stensons that you are looking for. I am looking for decendents of Ira and Minnie Stenson who where known to live in Tieras NM area. Since the name isn`t all that common, maybe there is a connection.

I am looking for William Stenson who was a fwk in 1840 so if anyone comes across a fwk in the 1841 census i would love to hear from them, i expect him to be from Coleorton or Syston area.His son Joseph Stenson was born around 1815 in Syston and married Catherine Green in 1851 Radford.The 1851 census gives Joseph's birthplace as Coleorton,he remarried in 1867 Crich.

There are many Stenson's and indeed I am one of them - but it depends on where in the country or even world your famiy came from as to how many are related to you. Mine are from Derbyshire then Yorkshire.

As a matter of fact that is true. My family spells there name Stinson. They are from the Barnwell Co SC area, but I have been told that it may also be spelled as Stevenson, Stephenson. If you are familiar with the Stinson line (Preston Benjamin Stinson 1810) I would appreciate it.

John, chr.13th Jan 1795; no parents names given
Mary, chr.9th Sept 1793; no parents names given
Hannah, chr.2nd Jan 1791; father John
Sarah, chr.24th Feb 1789; parents John & Hannah

There is a christianing record on the IGI database for Stephen Stenson, chr 10th April 1800 at Weston on Trent. Parents names John & Hannah.

I haven't been able to piece together a confirmed line to your William.

The GRO record reference for their marriage is Sept Qtr 1901 Leigh 8c 451. You can order a copy of this on line for £7. If you don't know how to do this, let me know and I'll post the links for you.
In addition, the England GRO birth records show, from 1910, the maiden name of the mother for each registered birth. Unfortunately, there aren't any for 'Maddocks' which would imply that either there didn't have childre, or didn't register their births or that they moved outside England.
I haven't yet been able to put together any family tree for them.

We have recently found his death certificate in Ohio. Patrick was born 1 Aug 1852 in Co. Sligo, Ireland, died 16 Mar 1931 in Perry County, Ohio. He is buried in New Lexington, Ohio (name of cemetery unknown, just a city). According to the death certificate, the father was named as Patrick Stenson, born County Sligo, the Mother was named as
Catherine Sullivan, born County Sligo. The informant was Catherine Stenson, his daughter. We do not know if there were any siblings. If we can be of further assistance, please write

Owen Stenson & Martin Stenson - Tubbercurry

Owen Stenson born 1868 Tubbercurry / Tubbercurry Area. Sons included Thomas (1905), Micheal, James (Jim), there were others.

Owen married Mary A Walsh (also of Tubbercury Area) died in 1948

His father was Martin Stenson. Married Anne Kilcoyne. Belive 4 sons and 2 daughters, one son is called John I believe and then there was Owen above.

Martin was born at a guess 1850. Not sure where, maybe Tubbercurry or maybe Eskeragh.

Are you related to Martin ?

Did Mary have any brothers at all. As I have a Martin Stenson again born about 1850 and wonder if she is a sister. I don't have the name of Martins father. You mention the surname Britt, are you sure its not Brett ?

This is a coincidence. My grandparents (James Stenson and Mary Reily Stenson) immigrated from Ireland to New York City where they raised their family in Brooklyn. They are buried in our family plot in Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY!

Are you sure of the first name Michael? On Ancestory.com I found a Eugene Stenson on a 1930 census age 35, b around 1895 NY, his father from Ireland, Mother NY. Wife listed as Anna, children Eugene, Raymond, Edward, Robert, no daughter Elizabeth, but maybe she wasn't born at that time. 2 others living w/them - Mary Elizabeth and John Boes.

I am descended from Sarah Ann Stenson, daughter of John Stenson and Sarah Osborn. I have only recently discovered this branch of my family. I am aware of others researching this family and would really appreciate contact to help me get details. I recently drove from Nebraska to see Sarah's grave and the house where she living in early 1900s in Canton. Brother Alfred's grave also same cemetery. Hope to hear from someone.
