Hello. I am hoping to find information on my ancestor Edward Stephens (died 1826 in Manchester). I have inherited his police staff that was awarded him by King George 3rd during the great riots (introduction of machinery) in the early 1800's. I have a copy of a letter written by his granddaughter(1933) that mentions a Mrs. Mary Mann (Coventry) having adopted her sister's (Susannah) children and the eldest was Edward Stephens. This same lady adopted Edward's children (4) when he and his wife died. If anyone has any information on Edward or is related to this gentleman...please contact me.
