I must admit I'm very excited to hear of so many Stepneys out there. I have always been told that we, the African-American Stepneys, were once slaves on the England-based Stepney Railroad. I am beginning to do the research on the railroad. Any information will be helpful. I am really interested in the N. Carolina connection as my family is in Chicago.
