My grandfather was Taylor Stepney 1889-1952 He lived in Hearne,TX in Mansfield County. We have family reunion every year in Dallas,this year it will be June 10 @ Flag Pole Hill,between Central Expressway and Audelia Road.There is a community in Enland named "Stepney" one member sent us their family crest.I think during slavery we adopted our name from one of these Stepneys.
