As I understand John and Elizabeth were both
from Bresslow, Germany and John left Germany to avoid the army. They evidently came in to the US thru the Port of New Orleans. Son
John and Kate born in Germany with Mary B.
born 1862 in New Orleans. They must have gone upriver because I show Elizabeth born in
Caledonia, Michigan on Aug 15, 1864. Do you
know where Martiny, Canada is? Someone had
William born there in 1866 later followed by
Edward Albert, Owen Fred and Estella.
I was told Grandmother Sterzik (John's wife
Elizabeth) lived with Owen and Nora in Evansville, Indiana but I haven't checked that out and I don't know when or why.
but assume it would be after John died in 1919 and before she passed away in 1927. My
grandfather - Owen - was a furniture designer, superintendent of furniture
factories, woodcarver, accountant, estimated lumber in the woods, and efficiency expert. I have a small tilt top table he designed for my parent's as a wedding gift. He was
living on Bear Lake (Onekamp Township) Manistee, Michigan at the time of death and
is buried in South Bend, Indiana. I do not
know anything about Owen's sister Elizabeth.
My info said she was born 15 Aug.1864 in
Caledonia, Kent Co. Michigan. Would be happy to share my family group sheets with
you. Snail mail is Milli Dold, 15901 W.
