Until reading your post I didn't know who Amanda married. Today with that information, I found her death certificate. Her name is spelled Stevens on the death cert but it seems to be her - married to Gilbert Stevens, father is Andy Hood and mother Emily Hood. She was buried in Samaria, Greenup, Ky. Lost Creek is mentioned as the precinct but then crossed out. I really don't have a clue as to whether the name should be Stephens or Stevens. On the census records it is both ways too.

This is really interesting because she is on the 1870 census with Andrew Hood (born about 1812). In the 1880 census he was born about 1806. I have Andrew Hood's birth listed as 20 May 1810. His second wife was Ruth Bryson (according to his gr-grandson.) Until finding Amanda's death certificate today, I had no information at all for his first wife (except to know that there was an earlier wife.)

Does anyone have any information to suggest that this is a different Andrew Hood than the one born May 20, 1810? It looks like him to me.
