Hello Nancy,

Let me know if you come to Northumberland. I live in the North East of England, in what was the original County of Durham. Durham is a separate county to Northumberland. Your relative were married in Tynemouth, which is right on the coast, Annfield Plain is more inland, but a very small place. There are lots of little villages etc around that area

Nancy

Nancy, I can't thank you enough for the information you found for me and the fact you answered so quickly which is awesome!!

I have the census image which says they lived in Annfield Plain and they lived close to my great grandparents. That aside, I didn't realize it was in the Lanchester registration district. I just thought they were in Durham, Northumberland.

Their next child was born 1912 in the Lanchester district so I agree with you, that the death info you found is most certainly the right child.

I am going to order the Death certificate now and when I get it, I'll let you know if it's the correct baby.

Nancy

PS. I live in Kamloops, British Columbia Canada and I am hoping to be able to visit Northumberland next year.

Hello Nancy,

I am sure that the details I gave in my last message, do relate to your relative's child. I have looked now at the census, and they were living at Annfield Plain, which is in the Lanchester registration district. (this is just in case you are NOT in England)

Nancy

Hello Nancy

I cannot find any on the parish records, BUT,

Look at this birth and death which is from freeBMD. No maiden name, but the child was born, and died within the relevant time scale.

Births Mar 1910
HAKIN Gordon Lanchester 10a	337

Deaths Sep 1910
Hakin Gordon age 0 Lanchester 10a	156

Lanchester is technically County Durham, but very close to Northumberland.
Oh my goodness Nancy, that is so kind of you. My grandmother's maiden name was STEVENSON but I have seen it a couple of times spelled STEPHENSON. My grandfather's name was HAKIN and the baby would have been born like I said bet 1909 & 1911. I sure wish mother's surnames had been added to birth records before 1912, would make life so much simpler wouldn't it??

Thank you very much for any help you can give me. Under the column ..........Total children born alive on the 1911 census.........my grandparents have ticked off 1, and under the colum.......Total children who have died there is 1 also. So I'm quite certain the baby wasn't stillborn if that's any help.

Nancy

Hello Nancy,

What is the name of the family, (I presume Stephenson was themaiden name of the mother). It is sometimes possible to find them online. Find my past has some baptisms etc. but you have to pay, unless you have an annual subscription, which I do have. So, give us the name, and we will try. from one Nancy to another,

Nancy

Birth Records

Can SKS tell me if there is Birth/Parish/Church records for births and deaths between the years 1909 - 1911. I discovered yesterday on the 1911 British census that my grandmother had a baby who died before the 1911 census was taken. I know they were married in Sept 1909 (have certificate)and their next child was born in 1912 so at least it's only a couple of years I have to search.

I've always been told my grandparents had at least one more chld and now I have proof of it, I would (hopefully) like to be able to find a record prior to 1911 that would have her surname STEVENSON/STEPHENSON on it as mother if that's possible.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Nancy

Re: Hugh Stevenson & Joseph Stirling Steveonson, Sr. - Ireland

I have just seen your query, posted on 11 September 2001. My great great grandfather, Hugh Stevenson, and his wife Elizabeth Stirling had a son called Joseph Stirling, born on 12 December 1865. He attended Foyle College, Londonderry, and is listed in their records as being an "Editor" in the United States. This sounds as though it is your Joseph Stirling Stevenson. I am descended from his eldest sister, Mary or Minnie Stevenson, who married Robert McClure. I also have details of most of the other children and their descendants.

Would be delighted to have contact with you as I have been trying to find out what happened to Joseph for some time.

Hello,

With a colleague, we are currently working on a project to designate 13 historical places in the Town of Richibucto (New Brunswick, Canada). Per author Myron MacDonald, Air Vice-Marshal Leigh F. STEVENSON had lived in one of the 13 historical place of interest:

Richibucto - River of Fire
http://www.kent.nb.ca/riveroffire/page41.htm

In my quest to find the builder (family) and past residents of the said house, I found the following information in the New Brunswick land registry (deeds and wills): Air Vice-Marshal Leigh F. STEVENSON (search Google.com) parents, John & Mary, sold their house to George A Hutchinson on September 7, 1922.

Do you have any information on the above? Thanks for your support. Don't hesitate to past along the above information.

Robert Richard

51 Houlahan St
Dieppe, New Brunswick E1A 0S9
(506) 383-9004 home
robert.richard@rogers.com

I have come across a photo of a man in uniform sent to one of my relatives. On the reverse it says,
14222388
L/CPL F. E. STEVENSON.
1210 GHQ TPS RE.
C.M.F.
Best wishes to you both
Steve
Italy
Sept 1944

He is no relation of mine so I'm happy to pass the photo on to anyone with a proven relation. Alternatively I can scan it and forward a copy.
