Hardin County, KY has excellent records available. My VanMeter, Vertrees, and other families settled that county, with land grants given for their service at Kings' Mountain. We have a 'wild' story about Daniel Boone in our family...and the issue of gun ownership, and why a Vertrees moved to what is now the Rio Grande Valley in Texas, back long, long ago..in the early 1800's. Bourbon County records are also quite good. One book about Hardin County and Elizabethtown was written by Samuel Haycraft, who was also one of my relatives. Go in and check on the history of Hardin County, and its beginnings as Severns Creek and the Severns Creek Baptist Church.
