James Stuart , wastepaper warehouseman, mar. to Elsie Castle, died 20 Jun 1885 in Edinburgh aged 44 yrs. F. James Stuart, farm lab. dec; M. Christian Stuart ms Duncan, dec. Informant was William Stuart, brother, of Glasgow. On 16 Feb. 1891 Elspet Stuart, wid., of James Stuart, police constable, died in Edinburgh. F. Thomas Castle, farmer; M. Helen Castle, ms Rennie.

In 1881 James Stuart, paper warehouseman, bo Forgue, is living at 11 Dalry Park Terr., St Cuthberts, Midlothian, with wife Elspet, 4 children and 2 boarders.

In 1871 James Stewart, coachman, bo Forgue, is again living in Edinburgh with wife Elspet, 1 daughter Helen, and sister-in-law Christian Castle.

If these are all the same person, it seems strange that he was described as policeman in his wife's 1891 death certificate.

I've no family connection.
